PACIFIC -- Bouncing around in her white tennis shoes, 9-year-old Shania Supanich shied away from many of the adults gathered in the Gordon Trucking parking lot.

But when it came to a pink backpack -- a gift from the trucking company -- she expressed interest in taking a peek. "Mom, I won't do it without you," she said.
