The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Wednesday issued a new rule that it said will "significantly strengthen safety requirements" for intermodal container chassis.

An intermodal carrier in the midwest and mid-atlantic states.
Many of their customers require steel crossbeamed trailers to haul some of
their heavier loads.
And dispatch sometimes gets their wires crossed and assigns the wrong unit.
This can be catastrophic as we've had the bottom literally fall out of aluminum
crossbeam trailers while on the road with a few unfortunate drivers.
And guess who gets the fine if that happens??
That's right!
That said, check your trailers thouroughly during yer pre-trip guys.
