If business is slow then the hours that the drivers are working will be cut & that makes sense to me. But why are only the hourly employees taking a pay cut? They are only being paid for the hours that they work.

Isn't Ward one of those companies that doesn't even pay their hard working employees overtime for all the extra hours that they are required to work? Well at least they can't blame the union for Ward taking 8.9% from what is already a substandard LTL wage package

I know they service Hampton Roads and the Tidewater area out of Richmond and that is a 90 minute run just to the southside each way. No OT on that road peddle with 20 stops is a long day for a days pay.

Ward has actively fought any organizing attempts also. Some of their workforce has sought union protection only to be harassed or terminated for unjust causes.
Bottom line however is the fact we are in a severe economic downturn, all companies are cutting costs and reducing payrolls.
Wish the best for the Ward employees and hope we all can survive this economic crisis.
