but for the "general public", that ain't much good.........
I TOO AM an ASE Certified Auto mechanic, (and some areas of truck repair too). but when i became ASE certified, i was working in a garage that serviced the GENERAL PUBLIC, not a private concern.
what i am saying is this...........no other truck driver can simply go into a Swift terminal for repairs by these "certified" mechanics. its a private concern. working on fleet vehicles.
now however, if ANY of those certified mechanics leave (and some will) and go to a garage and work on the general public's truck's, then that ASE Blue Seal IS reconized as a place where QUAILFIED mechanics work at.
plus at hiring time, that ASE certified mechanic can demand more money than say a rookie mechanic, and in turn, that garage can charge more money for repairs.
when you're driving around the country and need truck repairs, you would want to look for the Blue ASE Seal, for a place you should be able to trust for honest repairs. otherwise, a private concern like Swift having certified mechanics does the average trucker no good in a time of need.........
and in closing, congrats to the Swift mechanics for getting tested and certified.....its a long drawn out process, and costly if the company does not re-imburse a mechanic for the tests.........
