Lightbulb I'm confused

What happened is ODFL is 6 million dollars down from 10 million dollars the year before. That means they are 4 million dollars in the black. I get it now. It is only a loss when you compare the time frames, other than that it is a profit.

It means they still turned a profit.Just a smaller one than the 1st quarter last year.Really not that hard to understand.

I'm sure with the way things were going in 08 that OD set the projected level of profit to be significantly lower in 09. So if they went over their projected level then they made a profit. It has nothing to do with the previous years earnings even only if they profited 4 mill verses 10 mill.

Thumbs up right

Right. $4,000,000.00 in the black is better than $4,000,000.00 in the red. When the analysts and the CFO's give us the numbers they always compare it to (last year).
