Legendary singer James Brown dies at 73

ATLANTA - James Brown, the dynamic, pompadoured "Godfather of Soul," whose rasping vocals and revolutionary rhythms made him a founder of rap, funk and disco as well, died early Monday, his agent said. He was 73.

Brown was hospitalized with pneumonia at Emory Crawford Long Hospital on Sunday and died around 1:45 a.m. Monday, said his agent, Frank Copsidas of Intrigue Music. Longtime friend Charles Bobbit was by his side, he said.

yo...

i saw him, in concert, in ventura, california in 1966 for 99 cents.......

he did one solid set for over an hour and a half.....

if you never saw him in person you missed something.....

Damn, how about that!! Now, there was a walking history lesson. He influenced several of the top entertainers that we know and love today. Sad to see "soul brother #1" leave us. DS.
