We have one of the largest private trucking fleets in the world, and our trucks rely on diesel for fuel. Emissions from all cars and trucks contain carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, which pollute the air and may contribute to climate change.
To reach our overall commitment to reduce our greenhouse-gas emissions by 25 percent compared to doing nothing, we plan to double new truck efficiency by 2015. We believe these fuel efficiency innovations will keep 26 billion pounds of carbon dioxide out of the air between now and 2020.
