Hiring/experience questions
I've been reading in some of the threads that they want current driving experience. I have been with my company since Feb 1990 as a driver and in 2004 I was awarded Driver of the Year. In May 2005 I was put in charge of a company school for new hires with no experience to each them DOT regs, backing maneuvers, Defensive Driving, log books and basically everything the truck schools over look. I did this until Nov 2007 as the company no longer needed to hire inexperienced drivers. I'm now a Safety Manager for one of our fleets (163 drivers, 100 tractors) and really haven't driven on the road since May 2005. Do you think my backround would be taken into consideration or is my lack of current experience going to hurt me?
