Negative perception
Yesterday (7-20) I was driving west on I-44 enroute to Springfield, MO. As I was nearing Lebanon, MO., A Wal-Mart tractor from the Ottawa, KS. DC pulled out to pass me. I took notice of this tractor because it is one of the new Pro Stars in the Wal - Mart fleet and it had a name on the door (Something the Wandering Star).
As any of you know that travel on I-44 unless you are traveling 80 to 100 mph, anytime you pull out to pass you're gonna back up traffic. This particular Wal-Mart truck had a 3/4 ton Dodge p/u following him very closely followed by several other cars. As the "Wandering Star" got clear of my tractor I signalled to him to come back over, at that point the Wal-Mart driver "brake checked" the p/u causing him to instinctively jerk his vehicle to the right towards my tractor and causing a chain reaction behind him that resulted in a car at the end of the line going into the median. To say the least it sat me up a bit straighter in my seat.
I write this because I've always regarded drivers in the Wal-Mart fleet to be drivers you didn't have to worry about being around because they tend to know what they are doing and conduct themselves as professionals. This drivers lapse of judgement could have caused a very serious problem for many people around him quite possibly hurting someone. If anyone of you know this guy, maybe take him aside and let him know that people do notice us driving down the road particularly when we do something stupid and that your momentary lapse in good judgement could have very serious consequences someday.
