questions about not dying in WV in the snow

just made my first threw the App. mountains, 77 and 64. roads were dry and i was covered in sweat. any suggestions?

Why are you worried about dieing? I've been running back and forth from Kernersville,NC to Dayton, Ohio 3 times a week now for over 6 years.

You might try turning a/c on and relaxing and enjoy the scenery.

There is no way I can tell you how fast you can drive in the snow. How long have you been driving? Where have you been driving? WV is just like any other place when it snows. They do a fairly good job of keeping the turnpike in shape to drive on. They salt the heck out of it anyway.

seriously, how fast do you run in the snow?

i would/will usually drive well below the speed limits, and most times, other truckers "defend" my slow speed when someone else "barks" that i am going too slow...

my "average speed(s)" when the snow is falling is at least 20 mph below the posted limits. so, if the posted speed limit is 65, well then i'm going 45.........got it...??

you drive for your safety and that of others around you. you drive in anticipation of some dumb@ss 4 wheeler spinning out in front of you and crashing.

you drive to give yourself an "out" of a possible accident.

you drive your truck at a speed YOU feel comfortable with, not what SOMEONE else thinks is comfortable for you.

stay in the far right lane, and let the super truckers or the dumb@ss 4 wheelers pass you by.

guaranteed, sooner or later up the road, you will see some of those very same careless drivers spun out and crashed, or jackknifed...........

we all drive to our abilities, not someone elses.

and by the way, its been 20 years for me, so i don't give a flip what others say about MY speed when the snow is falling.

WV is not like any other place when it snows, because we may have 35,000 pounds of freight pushing down the mountain and i believe you cant use the jake brake when the roads are slick. and hillbilly i'm really not worried about dying, i was just being goofy. i'm sure i'll get used to driving in those hills, but, any information on how to drive them...is helpful.
