CK was correct about not using a switch as being lazy. If its an issue put a long toggle switch adapter to make it easy to use. I knew an O/O that put the Jake switch on the gear shift stick. Its lazyiness to use the Jake all the time. Try a long 8% downgrade with a loaded rig with no Jake and you will see that a Jake is nice to have, but in moderation.

Agree ! Having to use the jake brake all the time is looked at as silly. The mid west is not a place to use the jake all the time. Colorado, Fancy gap. Are places to use the jake. I guess we all can agree that the best thing to say to this new memememember is there is a time and place for the jake brake

Wrong. If your clutch is properly adjusted, the clutch pedal should have about 1/2 inch of travel before actually engaging the clutch. By pressing the pedal slightly, you are activating the clutch cruise switch that tells the engine computer to disengage the cruise and not activate the Jake.

if you barely touch the clutch pedal, you hear a click, it will disengage the jake
    this should help while shifting
