I live in that county. One reason he may have been missed is because the sheriffs are parking their cars so many minutes per hour and the police maybe doing the same to conserve gas and there has been talk of layoffs in the police department to cut back more. All because the cost of gas increasing and there's not enough money in the budget to cover it.This fall when they fill all those school buses up we're looking for many routes to be cut because of the cost to run them. This of course will be spreading across the U.S. at a time when crime is steadily going up.

You got that right JIM BOB they are also cutting school bus runs where I live.

Some kids are going to have to walk farther to a central bus stop on their street.
Rather than waiting inside of their front doors for the bus to stop in front of each house.

Kind of funny in a way if you ask me.
Our school district has always wanted kids picked up,and dropped off in front of their own houses for safety reasons.
Yet a lot of these kids get off their bus, then run down the side of the streets to their friends house.

Most of these changes don't bother the lids very much.
Its their folks who are doing all of the whinning.

Actually, I just looked back at the article, and it says the car hit a pole, correct spelling. Unless they changed it from an earlier edition.

You obviously as well noticed the spelling of the word POLE.
In the article it is POLL.

Stupid,* insecure, spoiled parents whinning about stuff that keeps their fat,* lazy children from getting exercise.
I would laugh hysterically at these stupid, *insecure, spoiled parents because they'll alter their work schedules just to wait with their fat,* lazy children for a bus, AND do this as well each day when these parents could easily just drive their offspring to the skools, and sit in those ridiculous lines because they have to let their offspring out at the front steps.
>>I'm GLAD my Parents weren't anywhere near the anal-retentive people most parents are nowadays.

I had a choice in Junior High: I could walk about a mile for a Bus ride to skool or just walk the 4 or so miles.
I usually chose to walk, Rain or Shine, to and fro because it was more fun and I liked the exercise.
That was in Pasadena, Calif., in the 60s.

*= not all.

Walking is very good for everybody.
Since I've been retired I try to get in a 2 mile walk every day.
Sometimes I drag my wifes lazy old german sheperd with me.

She walks along pretty good for the first quarter mile, then I've got to tow her with the leach the rest of the way.

my wife is always saying take my dog with you,she looks forward to you walking her.
To that I say HA,she sure don't act like she wants to go?

But back to the thread topic.
Like I posted the kids get off the bus at their house, then turn, and run down the side of the road,or through the front yards to their friends houses.

I know this because my wife has been a school bus driver for over 24 years for our local school district.

Their parents always pitch a fit they want their little brats dumped off at the end of their driveways.

Oh well we just voted on the next school budget today.
Our district tryed to hold the cost down so our school taxes wouldn't go up much.
But with the diesel up to almost $5.00 per gallon, and everything running on diesel.
these parents are going to have to put up with how their kids are dropped off,and picked up,or drive them to school themselves.
