In Frame Overhauling
Can anyone explain just how extensive an inframe overhaul is? Just by the sound of the term, it would seem like just a freshening up on the engine. Replacing bearings, gaskets, maybe even rings, and re-using everything else: crank, rods, pistons, etc. Is it something an owner chooses to do after his rig reaches a certain age or mileage? Or is it done out of necessity? Like when he throws a rod? Then how does an inframe job compare to a engine that's been pulled and totally blue printed? (Rebuilt to strict clearance Specs). My final question is, what can one expect from a rebuilt engine anyway, will it last as long as the life span, as a factory engine?
