That's so they can brain wash them into thinking that unions are the enemy.
My terminal has hired quite a few CFers and guys that left other union companies over the years.
I have never once heard anyone in management even talk about the union...let alone talk negatively about it.

The only people at work I have heard talk bad about the union are some of the former union employees that were hired.

Little do they know that if it wasn't for the union they would be making $12.00 an hour.
I don't think anyone has any mis-conceptions about why we make what we make.
It's no secret that wages were increased during previous attempts to organize "O".

I don't have a problem with that...its just like when you put your notice in at a company because you recieved a better offer elsewhere and your boss offers you more to stay...ok...if money was the reason you were leaving and they offered you enough to stay.. then stay

Although,as a UPS company,I don't think they will do as "O" did and pay us to vote no....since they have alot more teamster employee's to keep happy than they do UPSF employee's.
I'm sure it is in their best interest to play nice with the teamsters...and is the only reason(in my opinion) they agreed to the card check...with the upcomming negotiations.

I am obviously not for the union, but if UPS wants to make it that easy(card check..with no secrot ballot voting) to become union..then I will go with the flow as long as possible, since I am only one vote...or non-vote.
I just hope the politics of being unionized is bearable.

Sorry...didn't realize I was in a union forum when I posted previous post.
I was directed here through the new posts section..and didn't notice it was a yellow forum...LOL

I still have my views...but didn't mean to post them in a union forum.
I am used to reading and posting in the UPSF forum...which is obviously currently a union debate forum.

i don't exactly know what i'll be doing at conway. i'm hired as a DSR
or driver/dockworker. i was informed that it would be alot of dock work. i was also told that i would be working M-F and the hours would be around 30-35 per week to start.

the job at yellow is a dockworking position only. i would work friday night and sunday afternoon/evening at yellow. no driving, yet. so, the hours wouldn't be a problem i wouldn't think. the tm at yellow said that conway is afraid that i would come in and try to organize them. don't know if he was serious.

I doubt he was serious. If you can make it work, go for it. I have known many Conway workers(including sups.) that have worked side jobs. They were ALL risking their job at Conway, technically. Keep your mouth shut about what you're doing though.

If MP Welsh is a young guy, he'll be much better off in the long run getting a Union job. Think longterm MP, don't think about today. You'll be glad you did.

Disagree we will. Thats what makes this country so great. I think there is a difference in generations as well. If you remember the days when the unions were more of a staple in this country it will tilt your opinion one way.

The younger people like myself, don't know what it was like. We did not have to fight for the same things.

If this guy is looking to be a driver or dock worker, maybe he is better off in a union environment long term.

However, if maybe he would like to get into some sort of supervisory position, management or even sales somewhere down the road he is better off going non union.

There are lots of different ways to look at this. The truth of the matter is that we can only offer our experiences and he will make his own choice

Too bad he did not live on the east coast. I know a medium size union free compant that is looking for drivers and treats them like gold.
