Funny thing about givebacks, everyone is against them. At CF everyone was against a giveback.....until they closed the doors. Most of us lost in 3 years ( through the great Union progression payscale) what would have taken 10+ with a giveback. Hope they dont ask and hope you dont have to give.

There is absolutely nothing the IBT can do but hope like the rest of us. To think that they don't care is wrong. While I admire your concern I fail to see how the IBT can put these 4,000 back to work when freight is the only thing that will do it.
Kinda hard to have freight to haul when most people are cutting back on costs and not buying what they dont need.

Sort of a Yin-Yang thing, I suppose.

Don't no one expect this economy to sort itself out in the near future, if anytime soon, is my advice.

ESOP never worked...and its history shows. R-14 told us what happens.

Every company that got an ESOP is GONE....those that thought they were doing the "right thing" by helping the company out in a bad situation got screwed...and the higher ups got theirs. It took many years before some got a little back....very little. The IBT did you newbees a favor by getting that crap article out of the NMFA.

Now when companies spend hard earned freight revenue dollars on racing teams and golfer contracts, while employees are sitting at home laid off, you would want to "give back" to them?....&^$^%#$*^

Lets say you give back 15%...then you see the same dummys, making the same mistakes and mismanagement that got them in the same jam that caused the ESOP to take over...AND THEY STILL WENT OUT OF BUSINESS!

It never worked...and it never will....KK

Why don't the IBT or locals start a layoff fund. They have a strike fund. If we all want to do something for the brother and sisters then we will have to do it ourselvs. It is a nice thought that Hoffa may think of us but most lickly he is drinking his coffee, reading his paper and watching his bank account. He will have to get a new tux for the ball. I wander who will pay for that.

KK and R14 are correct. If the company were doing well, it would pay to buy the stock to form an ESOP. Unless the company were to offer a massive stock buyout and the ESOP organizing committee had a master reorganization plan aside from throwing out current management (with their golden parachutes of course), it would be doomed to failure.
