I worked there until I maxed out on pay. Writing was on the wall it'd never get better so I left after 3 years. Nice place to work starting out but would never make a career there. The veteran drivers made that clear to me. They didn't want to start over or lose vacation time. Sorry to see so many out of work. Heard from some pissed off customers this week. Picked up a lot of their freight.
A lot of companies are picking up the slack.
 
I am/was a lax employee out of Pitt. We have received no pay for the last week we worked, no $500 safety bonus for 2014, no $500 bonus for 2015. I am also owed 3 weeks vacation. I've known Eric Foster for 6 yrs and I know he does a good job and he has been warning mgmt this was going to happen. It is not a well run company and they constantly cry poverty. But, where does all the money go? They kept saying they couldn't afford safety stuff but u can't afford not to do it as they've found out. I liked my job and I would go back if they change. Yes, they do treat their employees like dirt at times and it is shameful they won't pay us or even inform us! Unemployment will force us to find another job asap. I would join a class action suit if they pay us what we are owed. Just give us a resolution to all this crap now, dammit!

Every driver must stick together and not show up tomorrow. Don't give them an ounce of help.
 
I can just imagine what Spencer says about his drivers behind closed doors. I've heard him say nothing good about the drivers in Springfield and jersey.

At Pitt we have always been the leader in safety. I believe a large part in other terminals having a poor safety record is low moral and poor mgmt. This will need to be fixed asap. We have not been told to come in on Monday.

Hey...good luck in the future...you'll do well listening to veteran drivers....land air lost complete trust in employees and customers.

How or why would anyone consider going into work. We HAVE NOT been paid for past hours. They don't have the respect to admit they screwed us all , and maybe give us an idea of what is going on. Are you going to work and expect to be paid on the word of managers who knew this was going to happen and probably will lie some more. Stay home, collect your unemployment and let them realize they can't do that to employees. If we were to be paid, then make a choice of working for this so called company

401k was NOT stopped illegally. Read the 401k summary..."employer discretionary match". Them withdrawing their employer contribution is completely legal. I looked into this. If you believe something is illegal its worth looking into for your own pease of mind.

However. To all LAX employees currently working or just laid off. Ask yourself the following questions.
Is your health insurance cut off? Lax is self funded, no claims money or admin fees paid by LAX=no insurance. Call CIGNA directly. If they say you are not covered, you should inquire with someone about how to get on another plan or if you have a spouse that has insurance switch immediately! You only have 31/days to switch to a spouses plan.

To those working for free. Is the state of VT happy about paying LAX employees unemployment while he works them for free? Does he still have WC insurance??? What if you get hurt on the job? It's more than just pay checks my friends....please think and be smart about this and best wishes to all of you.
 
I agree with you that none of this is fair, nor was it probably handled the best way. My heart goes out to all the people who were left struggling and with no notice. One point to keep in mind though... people should hope that Land Air gets back on its feet so former employees can get paid their back wages. There are circumstances that were out of Bill Spencer's control and nobody on this board has all of the facts. It is not my place to speak for Bill Spencer or to represent his company in any way, but having known Bill for many years now, I can assure you that he feels horrible about all of this. I'm asking people to give this man some breathing room and to not make things worse. Any unpaid wage obligations will remain, but the only way any of us can ever hope to recoup our money is if Land Air survives and recovers.
I too would like to see any company strive, BUT you must have good business practices in place. There needs to be a change of ARMS with this company, or NOTHING will change. There has to be some checks and balances in place. Yes, there are SOME good people that work for this company, if you are any kind of human being ? One does not like to see harm done to anyone.....There is the BIG Difference - Human or Sub-Human - You Decide.
