Volvos are 10 speeds 1200 @65 only difference from the R12 models is there isnt a shifter it has a push botton deal flush on right side of drivers seat. They ride excellent not a bad truck.
Talked to a few drivers from other centers that got one assigned to them, the general consensus is that it wouldn't get out of its own way on flat ground and goes backwards up hills...most of them did say the ride was nice though.
We had about 20 new ones on our yard but they've all been sent out to other centers...from the feedback I'm hearing, I'm glad!!

That's good especially if we'll be spending more time driving them! My T680 needed to have the transmission software updated to skip shift and do better at intersections, it helped a bunch. The Pete does good already.

They take off faster than the 680 kws but are about the same power wise once moving i couldn't tell a difference from the two and yes the stereo rocks.

Just curious if anybody is having problems with the dash switch lights burning out in the new peterbilts. In the two months I've had the truck about five switch lights have burned out.

I've heard of a couple with non working fuel gauges but not what you describe. I'll ask our shop manager about those.

Junk! They should've stuck with Volvo...but I understand Volvo only wanted their motors under the hood back then. I see things have changed because I see more new Volvos than Kw's

From the Spec Review/Focus meeting, it was mentioned that going forward, all Driver seats would meet FedEx required specs and carry the FedEx badge. http://www.truckingboards.com/bb/threads/equip-spec-focus-group-meeting.68428/. The passenger seat is standard Pete issue, but the Driver side seems to be the latest spec. Something like this:

Pretty nice seat, really. Might even be the best seat in the LTL industry. Not sure. It does everything except provide heat and a back rub... BUT WAIT, it does, in fact, provide a lower back rub... :1036316054:

Not wanting to sound like Debbie Downer but...it all sounds good until you have to get the worn out seat cushion replaced! It takes an act of Congress just to get the shop to order one and another act to actually get a replacement in. Then, if you're lucky, you might can get them to swap it out it in a week's time.
Don't get me wrong, these seats are nice and appreciated but when the company goes with something "custom", they're almost impossible to get replaced once they're worn or broken.

R+L guys are getting Bose seats in their new trucks. If you've never sat in one of these, you've never sat in the best seat in the industry. I demo'd one a couple of years ago at a trade show. Bose said they're worth $5000. I'd say they're worth it.

R&L??? Really??? Now we're gonna have to do better if we can't even keep up with R&L!

JUST KIDDING :poke:. I can't imagine asking them to spend 5k for a seat. Must be very nice though. What might a seat like that do? :scratchhead:

It's almost like sitting in suspended animation. The Bose seat cancels all vibration and makes for a smooth ride, no matter what.

The test rig was setup to show the difference, and they could switch off the seat's gyros so you could feel it like a normal air ride seat. What a difference!
