to kinda piggyback on my topic last week, I've only driven p&d for a year now and I had another situation I want to ask about that happened yesterday. I was on a dock yesterday and the customer I was at started cussing like a mad man at me for something I had no control over. It really caught me off gaurd cause I'm always professional on a customers dock. It's a long story of what he was mad about and it had to do with something that I had nothing to do with. I remained polite and asked him to call my TM if he had any further issues. How do you guys deal with idiots like this??

You did good bother.Try to pacify the assholes ( because they pay our bills).I always try to stick up for my company and shine a positive light it ( because they pay my bills) , but you can't let them cross he line and allow them to insult you personally .

I had a customer yell for his employee's to stop me as I walked away. They had been watching his tantrum and just shook their heads.

A restaurant owner quipped to his employee that a gun to my head would settle the issue of who is responsible for getting three pallets of patio heaters two hundred yards across the mall to the dining area.

Another business owner commanded her employees to block my truck so that I couldn't leave, because she felt it was my job to get the refrigerator through the door, no matter what it takes.

I was wrongfully accused of cursing at a vacuum store employee when declining an unpaid inside delivery of four pallets of carpet shampoo.

I have lost count of the customers that got unreasonably angry when I refused to take the freight to another address.

On more than one occasion I have simply left the scene, without warning, when things seemed to be getting out of control.

I'm the wrong one to ask. I had one customer used to bust my balls every time I went in there, and their freight was garbage anyway. Being a freight man I took it like a man, didn't get mad and bode my time. When the times were right I gave it back to them and they called in on me. TM called me in and asked what happened. When I told him he told me that I had to suck it up, I told him, "No I don't", they never sent me back to that garbage account again.

So you dumped your work on another brother?

What can I say Elwood? You're just a better man that I am, plain and simple. :guiness:

Not better, just different. We have guys that are banned from going to certain customers on their routes. I consider it being unqualified to complete a job assignment, but keep my trap shut. If one bids a route, it requires customer relations. Do as you will with residential customers, but regulars need to be appeased to the best of our ability, crappy freight or not.

Na, customer breaks my balls every time I go there, expects me to carry their garbage freight across their warehouse and sort and segregate it for free I'm not helping much. Then one day the guy has a big goonie on his forehead...I couldn't resist asking him if he bought his wife a frying pan for her anniversary. Screw him if he can't take the joke, I'm too old to be putting up with his bullshit.

Some can take what they dish out, others can't.

Why sort and seg for free? If it's a high revenue account, maybe. If told to by dispatch, 'it's all by the hour...'

I can be doing it there or somewhere else, it's all the same.

Karma always gets them, anyhow.

I'll only bolt if it is a personal attack and/or my safety is at risk.
