I'm new but so far I really like it at CCX. Most of the people I have met like it also. Hard work has a different meaning to different people but I would say its mostly pretty easy. City guys seem to kinda be doggin it actually. Some line haul guys are in a hurry but it seems to be their choice more for personal reasons. BTW, there was a new hire in orientation from XAC who quit a 10 year Roadway job because he hated it so much. Said they treat you like sh** and every time he talked to a CCX driver they told him how much they like it so he quit! I figured there's more to the story then he told me his buddy, a six year Big R driver, did the same thing. I met that guy too. So I dont know.

why is everyone too good to work the dock. its good money, its easy work ( mostly all skids now) and the flexability is how CF,FXF,ODFL, and other non union companies are taking market share...flexability. its not all drivers, and it doesnt last long..long i mean a year or two and your usually up high enough in seniority that you dont have to work the dock much.
That's were you are wrong. You make less than $300 to $400 less than the drivers a week and that is a fact.So I'm looking elsewhere for until then I will stay at Con-way till I find something better. If you think you make good money working the dock you need to do some refiguring.

When I came to Con-way I thought it was a great place to work.Well as the months went by I found out that it was not.I'm on the flex board and I tell you what I have seen so many people quit because they got sick and tired of the bulls**t that management has done and the way they have been treated.Alot of people do not want to work the dock especially the flex guys including myself.I know alot of of people that have left to go to FedEx and UPS.Con-way claims to be so much better than other companies and to be straight forward I don't see it.4.2 billion don't even come close to DHL,FedEx,or UPS.So all you people who think Con-way is great well I guess your working for a company who will eventually sell you out and laugh about it all the way to the bank. When my day comes to work the dock well that will be the day I walk.So you all will find out soon enough.I know I'm alot smarter than those clowns up in Ann Arbor.:nutkick:
Dear Nighthawk, It sounds to me that you should seriously think about offering your limited talants to some other company.

here, here! Granted this isn't the greatest place in the world, but the money is good, the insurance is better than most, And I like being home every day. OH gordon hit the wall see ya.

first off "cornflake" is out of business so there's no turn over there.
now if your talking about turn over at con-way freight it because people don't want to wait 5.3 years to get to top pay.

the only diffrance between con-way an corn flake con- way is not union it still all the same a good company.an od was an still good 2 me.:biglaugh:

This company is not owned by a company that is union, take the union discussion to the union/non union forum

i did not konw you guys had to do your own dock work. we at jevic are non-union and we have dock guys its not just union companys that have dock workers
We are not talking about dock workers,We are talking about drivers here a C.F. who don't like the dock work.

I guess I'm nuts cause I don't mind working the dock.

I am a FXFer, just about 9 years now, the last 3 on the road. I run STL to IND, 498 round trip. While I could just take a nap in my tractor and get delay pay I prefer to work the dock, 1st I don't have to give up any time that way (we have to give up the 1st 1/2 hr and our lunch break if not already taken) and 2nd it gets me turned around and headed home earlier.

So for me it's a win win, I make more money and get to go home earlier.
And for the co it's also a win, they get the freight back to be broke sooner.

I do however have the option not to work the dock and have done so from time to time, it's better to take a nap than put it in a ditch on the way home.

and the above post will be the last of any union talk in this thread.
