Holland | Wifi in tractors! WTF

I'll tell you what after driving that 16 series for a couple nights and dealing with the automatic tranny and that adaptive cruise control I am more than happy to just have to worry about if my 28 series will regen when it is cold outside.

Are you sure it is for WiFi ? If it is the same device as you plug into a computer plug (OBDII connector) in a car/pickup it is a device that tracks vehicle speed, braking, locations it has traveled and other info and transmits it via cell connection back to a company that collects the data.

Many insurance companies are giving discounts if you install one of these on your personal vehicle, I see YRC using it for disciplinary action or evidence if needed.

If the company is using these devices they are also paying a monthly fee to whoever collects the data .

It is supposed to be for the new hand helds and is necessary for the Federally mandated electronic logs. And yes, scan wifi on your smartphone and it will come up. It is a different address in every truck. This time unfortunately (unlike the totally useless MobilEye) the wifi is justified.

We got 2015 Cascadias with the e-logs/lane departure/automatic trans/adaptive cruise control. My take is e-logs are nice....no paperwork....auto trans blows(trans takes too long to shift or go in gear sometimes)acc is very nice and lane departure system sucks(goes off all the time even staying in between the lines)

Our new freightliners come with on guard, lane departure warning, and annoying cruise control that slows dwn the rig when u get close to a car. The new freightliners come white, no more green paint. 10 spd manual no automatics.

Ours are both auto and 10spds. The LDS that comes installed on these trucks are by passable. All you have to do is when someone is driving slower than you, just lay your foot on the pedal and it'll prevent is the truck from slowing you down (unless things have changed since I dealt with this when driving for Dominos), it only works with cruise control set.
