So it's time (in BUF) to CALL BACK THE DRIVERS ON LAYOFF!!!!!

After all, Yellow wouldn't want anybody to make a living.

And maybe somebody can explain how the times I was laid off, we came back onto the BOTTOM of the list, but these guys come back to the TOP of the board.

KR,
So you're saying that some guys moved up in seniority after being laid off and went ahead of others on the board? That'd be a first.

were not going back at the top why dont you call the hall and whine or may be you would like us to stay off till oct

Hey, speaking for myself only, I really hope that everybody who wants to work can work, but I DO see his point. There are guys on the extra board who just made their health insurance last quarter from lack of work. I was laid off almost 6 months last year. If things have changed and the work just isn't there, well sometimes you make a move and it doesn't work out. Hopefully there are good times right around the corner and we'll all be crying about no time off soon.

I'm not sure if Kingralph is the guy I think he is, but when I went out, someone coming in asked about where the layoffs would come back on the board and he was told "at the top".

Check the update phone line ********.

And you can bet your rear end I'll be AT the hall and up their exhaust pipe first thing Monday morning, seeing as I'LL STILL BE SITTING AT HOME WAITING FOR A WORK CALL WHILE THE NO SENIORITY LAYOFFS GET OUT RIGHT AWAY!!!!!

1)Do Treat people with respect. 2)Do Not resort to childish name calling if someone does not agree with your view. 6).......the idea behind this site is to create harmony amongst people in the transportation industry.

1. I did some checking. I was laid off twice last year and each time I was brought back at the BOTTOM of the list.

2. I thought that it was overstated, but, we are running 61 hours between work calls. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to run my 3rd. local in a row.

3. Happy daddys day!!!!!!!!!!!!

Such a strange place they call BUF.........down here in the Southern Region (ATL), when you lay off, they come from the bottom.......they can elect to take unemployment and stay home and go fishing........or they can bump any junior driver in the Southern Region and work.....or they can be available to work ahead of any casuals.....it would be verified by phone that you could not be reached......and they would go to the next driver available......if no one is, then they call the casuals...........strange place this BUF seems to be!..............KK

I think they do lay off from the bottom here in LCP too, take the call or go fishing with no penalty....as long as nobody retires or croaks in your abscence, you come back right where you left off unless you can bump into a bid that is open....strange days indeed.

The company was informed of there mistake of putting the returned guys at the top of the board and refused to amend there mistake, so just file a grievance and get paid and quit your *****ing

Kid,The company lays off and calls back acording to the contract, where the confusion comes in is our local work rules. If an extraboard person comes back off a 48 or vacation ,that person goes to the top of the wheel,if we book off sick we go to the bottom when we put ourself back on.This is one more reason to have unified workrules throughout the system in the next contract,so we all are on the same page.

Ah..the wheel board!!

I fought to hard to give up my senority dispatch to go to a wheel board!
I hope the BUF situation proves a good example to ALL come contract time!.....KK

yo....

senior rested available driver goes first....

anybody that doesn't like that has never worked a wheel for 7 years like i did in MBK....

mikeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

ps; most guys on the bottom are clueless on how to work a wheel to their advantage anyway..........

Ah yes. The "good old days" when we were sitting for only 66 hours.

Up to 95 hours now. And this in the middle of summer. Why do I think that there are going to be a lot of unemployed Teamsters come October?

ok i give up why in oct

If it's this slow in the summer, what will happen when it "slows down" come fall?

I'm just saying, this would be a good time to update your resume if you are not on a bid.

i just heard that road way is going to put on10 more on the road and its fact

I was written somewhere here before, and I find it pretty interesting still, that our business dropped to nothing on March 1. The same day that Roadway began its big expansion. And I have heard that the sales force has their hands tied as far as pricing on orders from KCMO.

yea well you got may be 20 guys going to 100 % so may be you move things around so now you got50 guys at 75% running big miles you save a lot of $ also another guy onthe extra board that was laid off last time left to day for abf
