New Penn | Meanwhile. ....

Or maybe they should take a page out of the book of New Penn from the past.24 pallets on the floor and the trailer is out the door. Now it's outbound lets cube out 53' trailers that go maybe an average of 250 300 miles. so it can take an inbound guy 2hours to strip. Increase load factor, equates to less roadmen, more damages.

The tighter you (properly) stack and pack a trailer the less damage you will have.

I'll i know is ever since they started loading high n tight I've had at least 1 or 2 guys sitting everynite @ 22.

you bet it is and also reason foust just got 13499 share of stock...but hey we at npme did such a bad job last year, , figure what that would be even at todays ::shit:: stock price. i wonder if hell split that with swankee???

So wait, you mean to tell me the company should incur extra expenses and floor load trailers? If that was the case companies would go out of business.

As a business owner you would be trying to cut costs, you do it in your personal life, so please explain your reasoning for such thinking. Honestly.

New Penns in been in business 80 years ? Has always floor loaded. Some argue that the new system is costing them in freight claims, comp claims and customer service. I think high and tight is cost effective when you have the luxury of taking the time to do it right. But New Penn being a next day carrier does not have that luxury.
And why are guys sitting while line haul is still running very late every night to the point that P and D guys are waiting for their peddle runs?

I'm not sure how New Penn is even a profitable business. I worked as a casual dockworker in Maspeth.

And everything was floor loaded back then and docked in cages. No handhelds or modern day technology. And the dock workers taking an hr break.

But it bothers me that the guys are complaining that the companies should put less freight in each trailer..I just cant see he logic in that at all.

I did a short stint with New Penn in '89 and they had a mix of freight that permitted them to floor load with little top loading. I felt like they targeted the freight that they wanted and needed and left the rest behind. When moving freight overnight and trailers come in at 0800 to be on the street that day there is not enough time to pick through a floor to ceiling 45'er (which is what they had).

your dead on. Linehaul comes in at 900 or 1000 am with 50 bills to be strpped and loaded onto peddle runs that were scheduled to be on the street at 800 am

We have a albany driver sitting 4 a long time just to go home. Of course he's always pulling a 53. He's not leaving our barn till 630am cause dock has 2 pack the ::shit:: out of it

8am start. Average time leaving yard? 10-1030!! Why? 8-12 inbound loads arriving late every morning. Why?
Yrc's "load optimization plan"
Use 53's with logistics bars. Load them full even if it means sitting at dock waiting for freight. Takes longer to load. More damages, longer to unload!
But hey. They might be able to cut a road guy and not pay him. Smh

Doing it the old way ran the risk of having to pay out bonuses so they changed the program up.

Claims also rise when freight is doubled up and moved fast instead of properly

Kind of sounds like Don isn't to happy about New Penn guys getting a little bonus.
Maybe...Don should look in the mirror? Or MAYBE... The CEO should compare Don's managment decisions to that of Holland and Reddaway?

Bonuses are only suppose to be for CEO. That's what he is mad aboput.
