Anytime a company be it Xpo , Con-way or some other ask you to pay more for your insurance, deletes a pension plan or give sub inflation cola they are taking a give back.

At least the employees/ members at Yellow had a say in it by vote. We were just told this is the way it will be.

Yeah how about that ... at the same time they couldn't afford a pension for us they spent 750 million for them. That was in 2007 and in 2008 they were in such dire financial straits that they needed a giveback front the employees. If would have been a union carrier back then they could of blame it on the union.
Don't get me started I feel my blood pressure rising...
Sorry, mine is too

I keep reading this line " at least they had a vote ". That'slike saying " at least I got to kick myself in the nuts ". If that eases the pain well I'm gonna make sure I stop the next person who wants to bust my balls and tell them I'll take care of it for them.

As for the first part, open your eyes. Wages have been stagnant for 20 years in the country as a whole, union or not. Pensions are going away, union or not. People live to damn long for them to be feasible. If what I'm saying is not true then why doesn't UPS freight make a ton more than us? They didn't give anything back. Btw they're "union". If this "Union" you are now a part of is so strong why aren't they making at least $3-$4 dollars more an hour? You know who does make more? OD and FedEx, both non "Union"

I have never said this place is perfect but if you think the Teamsters will fix it you're either a snake oil salesmen or you bought some.

That is true as well, but isn't it funny that a company will spend so much money to keep a 3rd party organization out "for YOUR best interests?" That's all we keep hearing is that it is for us.

That's true for both sides. That third party is spending a lot of money (money they aren't exactly rolling in) to "protect the rights" of workers who overall seem to be pretty happy where they are. Why do you suppose that is? Let's not pretend that the company or the union are in it just because of some soft spot for us poor workers.

We sometimes act like this company is perfect and we've never had concessions. No company is perfect, not even close.

I don't think anyone on the internet is arguing that the company is perfect. Even the company wouldn't try to argue that, so it's a useless statement.

Ours wasn't a giveback....I call it a snatchback. We never had a choice. I don't think I've seen a single 5% raise increase to get that back to us either.

I'm not sure where you work, but I make a lot more now than I did when we took those cuts- well above 5 percent more. Are you planning to hold that grudge until they issue a 5% raise specifically to return Con-way's "snatchback"? Don't hold your breath for that.

A lot of people conveniently forget about are give back for couple years there...

Now wait a minute. Either we never got it back, or we got it back a couple years later. Which one is it?

Or frustrated

Yeah, I included that in "angry". I don't run into a lot of "happily frustrated" drivers.

Lost count after 10 filings against xpo and the former on nlrb site. I better hurry and get to those hearings

Filing a ULP is free and there is no penalty for filing complete bulls***. Simply filing a charge says nothing about its merit- and based on the number of filings against Con-way and XPO that end up being withdrawn without any settlement or hearing, it's just another form of propaganda for the campaign.

Don't forget we had to buy cfi

Hey, I think everyone agrees that was a stupid thing to do- we're making progress!

Dock workers at Aurora filed for a vote. They must be "angry and ignorant" also.

I said "and/or".

See?

Its hard for people who haven't been with the company 20+ years to understand how we were compensated back when we had a sister company that was a union carrier.

Or maybe people that have been with the company for a long time understand that things change, and nothing is guaranteed. Ask any CF employee. Regulated trucking and the ICC aren't coming back. CF isn't coming back. Pensions aren't coming back. One day soon there will be autonomous XPO trucks delivering freight and there's nothing any driver or union can do to stop it.

CF got fat and happy- so much so that they managed to run the company from debt-free to bankrupt in 6 years. Con-way almost ran themselves into the ground fat and happy, but XPO saw through the fat and saw the potential. I think it's terribly ironic that the employees that want a union criticize Jacobs for not respecting them while they're doing their best to be as undesirable as possible. XPO isn't losing any sleep over what happened at CF or Con-way, you shouldn't either.

It's a shame had the company maintained their mind set past that point of time they would not have the discontent (excaserorbated by xpo and it lack of engagement )of employees they are now facing .

I think some of us are spoiled absolutely rotten and don't really appreciate what we do have, and some people want to exploit that.

XPO Port Driver Victory in Savannah

Dear Members,

XPO drayage workers hauling out of the ports in the South have been scared to speak out. XPO Logistics, the company I worked for, used local police to attempt to block union organizing in Port Wentworth, Georgia.

But something very different happened this time.

The National Labor Relations Board decided XPO went too far and now XPO is required to post a federal notice in the workplace stating misclassified port drayage drivers – meaning we’re independent contractors in name only - have the right to form a union without intimidation.

Can you join us to make XPO the poster child for the illegal mistreatment of port workers in the South? Please sign our petition today.

A police bodycam video publicized by the Huffington Post exposed what it’s really like to organize port drayage drivers in the South, where Teamster organizers were arrested outside an XPO port drayage facility in 2016 for lawful leafletting.

Our campaign to end the illegal misclassification of port drayage drivers as “independent contractors” – led by drivers like myself from the Ports of Los Angeles/Long Beach to Savannah – refuse to back down. We, along with the Teamsters, took the case to the National Labor Relations Board and won, compelling the company to post an official Board Notice effectively stating that misclassified port drayage drivers have the right to form a union and are protected under the NLRA.

Corporations cannot run and hide from their responsibility to workers under the law – no matter where they do business. We must never back down!

Every American worker – including those in the South! – has a legal right to be classified as an employee, and to a workplace free from harassment and intimidation. With one of the world’s largest – and most notoriously anti-union – logistics companies posting a notice admitting that port drayage employees in Savannah have these rights, this may be the dawn of a new day for port drivers in the South.

XPO needs to put a stop to misclassification, wage theft, and harassment. Sign our petition today so that XPO and every U.S. corporation hears loud and clear that WE WON’T BACK DOWN!

Thank you for standing with us,

Daniel Berksteiner

Former XPO Savannah Port Driver
