A Trenton driver suffered a heart attack yesterday after attending a heated captive audience union busting meeting held at the Trenton terminal. The company hired the Crossroads group a well know union busting consultant. The meetings were conducted by Steve Breyer who during the meeting verbally assulted and threatened employees at one point throwing objects across the room and getting in the faces of some drivers. After leaving the meeting one of drivers complained of chest pains as was taken to the hospital where he suffered a heart attack.

Our prayers go out to him and his family.

You should be ashamed of yourself for using that driver as a tool to further your cause. No, you didn't outright say it, but the clear implication is that the company and the union busters are responsible, which is ridiculous.

If the guy did what you said, that is an easy ULP- but until I see one and it's upheld by the board, I'm calling BS on your story.

You owe that driver an apology. I know you're really into the message that you're selling, but that's a new low.

I stand by my post. You can't mess with the facts and I personally know all party's involved and will take your comment as being misinformed and outside the loop . The drivers involved want everyone to know what happened . Anyone can check my post if they like and fact check me . I think you will owe that driver an apology once you do so.
To be quite honest Gene you attitude towards your fellow drivers is not good . Union or no union

Let's be clear the union buster is supposed to be the professional in this situation he knows how to escalate a meeting and when to descalate . The drivers knows at that meeting that if they get too out of hand they will get fired. The union buster plays by his on rules .The drivers are told they have to attend the meeting they are not invited and given the choice. They are a captive audience taken down an emotional roller coaster by the presenter. Mr Breyers is a well know for his strong tactics and is a get in your face type of guy. Just do your research on him. That's why the company is using him.
Now am I blaming him directly for the driver being stricken with a heart attack directly. No .
No one should be subjected to verbal our physical
Abuse or stress at the hands of their employers our their representatives.

Mr.Breyer was hired to speak at my location and that's exactly how he spoke, like someone hired. I wasn't there but I've been in one for 3 days and don't doubt it. He's colorful and made the LA times for a colorful story and dismissed by the local he was president of. I'm sure this terrible outcome of a informational meeting won't be discussed pre shift so I'll wait and see, and pray for the driver

Don't let him bother you sucker666 I had heard from other drivers what happen at that meeting Gene is just upset he lost his red knee pads but don't worry they ordered him a new pair hope for a speedy recovery for the fellow driver

Really? In the industry we're in an adult truck driver couldn't handle a little yelling and object throwing?? The guy was obviously exhibiting a company-paid temper tantrum. I've got three kids, I know when someone is throwing a fit and I'll treat it as such, in this case laugh internally and move on with my day. The unfortunate driver in question suffered a myocardial infarction and I'm betting that it's just a matter of coincidence that it happened when it did. He has my thoughts and prayers but to claim that the big bad union buster caused it is ludicrous. We're adults here and if we can't see bullshit being slung then I'd say the snowflake millennials got nothing on this crowd...

I welcome him to our barn and please get in my face cause I can promise you this he would only get one warning sorry grew up in a Irish household for those of you that are Irish you know what I mean I will not tolerate that

And may I state for the record that if I were still at that miserable excuse for a trucking outfit and a union vote came to my barn I would have voted yes.
There are more people than you think that feel the same way except for the ones who come in every morning and every night with there Kool aid cups saying fill me up please and I mean in more than one way

Thought the same thing when I first read this thread. If I said it they would hang me by my toes.

Think for a second. You do something because he got in you face then he wins. You get fired and that one less yes vote and he did his job

But yet you show up every day too with your cups in hand

So, none of you were there, and none of you seem to know the correct name of the consultant (it's Beyer), but you know how he talks to people in meetings that you've never been involved in. Sure you do.

The story doesn't even pass the smell test. Those guys are persuaders, not goons. XPO is not going to pay someone that kind of money to scream at people and throw things, because that just plays right into the union trap, and they wouldn't fire an employee just for getting loud in an anti-union meeting. (I'm sure you've heard of that happening, too, of course- not that anyone knows a name.) And a quick Google search shows Beyer has been doing this for Conway/XPO since 2014, so he's no stranger to our people. The company has the upper hand- there's no reason for him to escalate or change his tactics now.

So again, BS.

Did a little digging and did not find this anywhere but here. There is NO post on any of the union blog or FB pages about this. You would think this would be plastered everywhere.

I did find a single comment about it under the Trenton post on the Change To Win blog, but we know what sort of award-winning journalism is posted there.

I believe that someone could have had a heart attack. I believe that someone could have raised their voice. I don't believe the narrative that is being presented. There's an entire side of the story missing, and the side we do have sounds suspicious.

Maybe instead of paying for all of these union busters, we could just get some college professors in here to teach some critical thinking skills? Learn fun concepts like, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" and "There are three sides to every story".

Again I am getting the facts from multiple drivers who were there. I don't need search the internet for info.
My original post is the fact. No where in did I say that Mr Beyers directly caused my friends heart attack. I did point out however his confrontational behavior. That spin was started by someone who responded to my post he needs to defend the indefensible behavior of the of Mr Beyers for some strange reason.
That's the whole thing in a nut shell . Spin it as you need the truth stands.
