SAIA | Mass Exodus

You just got done posting the same 2-3 news stories all over the threads about how studies supposedly show hands free isn't safe, but now you want to talk about what's legal and not legal. Nevermind the fact that the same thing is perfectly legal in both vehicles.

Either make up your mind, or just admit that you are a hypocrite. You can't have it both ways.
Spin it like you want. I expect nothing less from one of SAIA's biggest cry babies.

It's about risk, numbers and business. I'll tell you what PR83 you start your own company and set your own policies as an owner operator as you have indicated you are considering. Then you have no bitch. Until then concern yourself with doing what your told or leave. This is not your company and you don't set policy.

And in true fashion, when called out on your BS, rather than argue the point you degenerate into the usual "if you don't like it, leave" rhetoric. Guess I would be crabby if I was called out on my own BS, too. You definitely should have stayed in management. With your blind defense of everything corporate and the like it or leave attitude, you'd move right up the ladder. Management like that is the reason there is such a driver shortage to begin with.

How very mature of you. Once again no dialogue just name calling. Maybe you better take a nitro pill before you collapse.

I never considered myself a manager even if technically I may have been one in an indirect way. I couldn't fire anyone. I could recommend it but I never had that power. HR always made that call ... I was a dispatcher in the 80's and dealt with cry babies like you every day. I had a job to do and did it well despite putting up with the primadonna attitudes like yours. I know driver value but there comes a point when you get enough. I had numbers to meet just like everyone else and if I didn't meet them then my ass was gone. I did what I was told. I suggest you do the same or start your own company.

Our reps. have common sense SJ.

Right...they are totally infallible. Keep telling yourself that and maybe it will come true. These are the same reps "writing checks" and making promises that drivers have to come through to make a reality. And who gets the bonus? Yep.

The point is that truck companies with sales reps (Saia, coke, Pepsi, whoever) have tremendous exposure on our roads. They also have deep pockets. As far as I'm concerned, Coke has it right by saying anyone in a company vehicle is subject to cameras. Doesn't matter if the logo is on the side or not.

The EOBR system Saia uses is the cheapest bottom of the barrel system on the market (Vnomics) so I very much doubt that it has that capability. We can't even send messages or dispatch with it. It's a very pathetic system compared to all the rest.

Although it is nice not being able to receive messages on it because when central calls you and you don't answer the phone, you can throw their ridiculous no-phone rule right back in their face when they complain that they couldn't get ahold of you. Can't have it both ways.
There will be a new version of the vnomics going into the new trucks no later than December

This slam on the brakes radar, peoplenet and camera stuff is creating an atmosphere I haven't seen in a while. Looks like drivers are gonna need a lawyer or some kind of representation. This is not good and it truly saddens me. I hate the company verses driver atmosphere. It's happening at Estes too.

Sad state of affairs to be sure. It doesn't have to be that way either. It's all about the culture that you cultivate. It sounds to me like this is a "us versus them" mentality.

Drivers are a precious resource that are declining daily. The economy of this country depends on us. It would sure be a step in the right direction if companies like Saia would stop hanging their hat on compensation. Believe it or not, money isn't the only thing and is not the be all end all.
