XPO | Pension Lies!

When I retired dues were 58.00 a month. Medical premium payments out of my check each week, 0.0. If a normal payment of say 100.00 per week for medical premiums to have insurance equal to the Master Freight C-6 Coverage in a non union outfit, by being a union member under a union contract I am saving 340.00 per month or 4,080.00 a year. Even after doing your taxes in April, you still have to pay about 15% on the premium unless you can deduct it & 90% of the people filing can't claim it unless you had very high medical expenses that year.. So that 15% tax you pay on your medical premium is another $60.00 a month or 720.00 a year. Being employed by a Union company that pays all your premiums each week saves you 5 grand a year by working under a CBA. I don't care how bad the union is or is not. Show me a non union company without a CBA that does that. The days of free medical thru your employer are coming to an end in the near future. I am lucky to have worked for a union company with a contract like I used to work under. I will ride that rail all the way to the bank week in & week out until the end of the line. So in 2 words, 'Go Union'. von.

Insurance premiums are all pretty tax deductions except life insurance. Also my cost is alot less than $100 a week for family of 5. I know your coverage is much better though

Pension Lies ?? just look at the union C.S.P.F. , we were lied to too !!! they all lie is the bottom line !!

2006 called and wants its whine back.

Seriously, the pension was terminated 11 years ago. It's time to move on. If you're still bringing it up in informational meetings, I'm not surprised they told you that discussing it is a waste of time.
So any discussion of a company paid retirement in any form is a waste of time? How about we not be on this thread and open a 401k match thread. Or is that a non topic as well?

Keep it in this thread. Makes it easy. It's a non starter, but feel free to discuss.

Yes I guess you guys up north(no pun intended ) ha ha made out better than we did. I guess that's why we didn't here a lot of bi#%^ing when this happen back then. I once heard that the your government wouldn't allow Conway to take anything. O we'll I don't have long to go

I hear you, but I was trying to show an example of what I had before I retired. No matter what your view is on unions, my last 17 years in the work force, I saved at least 5 grand a year by working for a union company. Like I said I was blessed & would do the same all over again. By paying 60 bucks a month dues, the union saved me a whole lot of money over the years by their effort for us to have good wages & benefits. von. Go union.

You are 100 percent right and these Kool aid drinkers around here would be making peanuts if it weren't for unions

So anybody not for the union is a Kool aid drinker? Boy you're a real independent thinker. What about someone who is not completely happy with the company but doesn't want to get within 100 ft of the Teamsters? It's people like you that keep any discussion from progressing. Go freaking work for Holland or yrcw or abf so you can drink that IBT horse ****

As I've said in past posts I'm neither pro union or anti union but with all the union bashing you and others do makes no sense you think xpo is the greatest thing in the world and I'll pass on the horse **** sounds like I hit a nerve hahaha now go check with your tm and beg for something else

And you also are not a independent thinker you and your Kool aid drinking friends also need to think independently also take your own advice I myself will listen to both sides and make my own decisions

I got The annual report for the CON-WAY pension fund the other day, looks like it is funded at 123 percent if I understand it correctly. What really stood out to me was that approximately two thirds of the people that are entitled to pension are no longer with the Company. I know that with normal attrition Retirements, Death, Etc ., It would be a large number but, two thirds means a lot of people have walked . I know that even at my former small barn they went through a lot of people, most of them wasn't there long enough to qualify for pension.

You wonder how some of these. People stand with no spine!

I stand quite well without a union. I work long hours and make damn fine money. Good benefits, and good relationship with management. I need no stinking union and I stand straight and proud. Good luck hating your job every day.

I find it hysterical that the union is desperately trying to organize a company filled with employees who clearly aren't interested, and their best effort consists of calling us uninformed cowards. I know I'm much more likely to take you seriously when you're insulting me- so how's that working out for you?

You should at least consider that those 80% might actually know exactly what a union is and why we don't need one.

Well said. Thanks.
