New Penn | 07 in shambles

unfortunately, I think he speaking the whole shooting match, not just #07, every terminal I here stuff from is operateing like its being run by retards!!!! oh yea, we are run by yrc -roadrunner retards, I forgot. my fault there, brain fart!! the way we operate now it must be so easy to make money in LTL, I don't know why every body doesn't do it. if we at npme are even making a profit operateing like we do, it explains why central transport still stays in business. you can be a piece of ::shit:: and still make money...well they set the tone for any type of new contract in my eyes, if they can operate like they do and still stuff money into upper managements pockets, its our turn to reap some benifts after 10 years of yrc bullshit, or they can shut the gates, and I will gladly help them pull them shut. we are no longer trying to save npme, that company is long gone!!!

It's actually more profitable FOR THEM. low pay , Spend nothing on equipment, nothing on safety , cheap managment, nothing into facilities, etc means more money for upper Managment and YRC execs. Everyone needs to stop thinking that upper management cares about the companies reputation, employees or customers opinions. New Penn is simply here to serve and generate a profit for YRC by any means necessary. Stop giving them an excuse by saying they are stupid they know exactly what they are doing.

I started with NP in 1983. The management people were loyal, smart, here for the long term.It all started to change in late 90s to what it is now, a revolving door. Most of the old school NP management has either retired, quit, died,or the ones who lasted dont give a damn. They stay because they are trapped for one reason or another. I couldnt stand one more day here ,thats why i finally left last year.
 
but they are stupid, cause they are not making half the profit the real npme did, and the real npme took care of business and did overnight, and we didn't have fancy equipment, just took care of it. didn't have big technology just what was needed to do what we did better than anyone in the northeast. and employees that gave a ::shit::, back than. now your lucky to get them to show up 5 days in a row ..now, not disagreeing with you on your thoughs there, keepingon, I know how long central transport has been still hanging around. they got a -4.7 on a transport topics customer survey, recently. roadrunner 14.5 , and yrc came in at 53. but for a corporation to want to be a piece of ::shit:: over being the best they can be, is sad, but I guess that is the usa of today.....

the industry for guys like us is over. its either just a job for a paycheck or time to move on.

i agree with this. i believe the higher execs do not care nor have they ever. i myself have told several supervisors that they are a waste of my time. I've verbally assaulted them so badly that none of them talk to me. at all. i refuse to respect morons.

respect what you say but its not fair. there have been some really smart and well liked management people in your barn over the past 20 yrs or so. Cant paint everyone with the same brush.

There has been smart and well liked managment through out the whole New Penn system the last 20 years, I was talking about the past 20 years, this is after the yellow take over which was 2008 took them awhile to get rid of the good New Penn managment we had but the last 4 years or so it seems they have done that.

well yes I'll agree with that. my issue is with 07. Todd was what i called a people person. very easy to talk to, a problem solver, and no ego or arrogance. he's since been promoted. the flunky currently in charge is the total opposite and he's been here longer than Todd. just a total waste of time. his underlings are being shown the ropes by him. isn't that fantastic!
 
I haven't been doing much P&D since April. Changed bid. I went out early to make a delivery to a customer last week. Hadn't been there in months. I joked and said "Do you have our freight ready yet? (usually one skid orders going to bars all in New Penn, not Holland, delivery areas.. usually at least 3/4 trailer and sometimes asking for the whole trailer)" He looked at me really sadlly and said to me very quietly almost with head down...."we can't use you anymore. Next day freight has been taking 2-3days and our customers need it next day"....................They were really happy to see us everyday before...but as time went on and the change of OPS came............end of story. I never cared about companies before..I'm not willing to do any extra now either...because I've seen people rob employees and everybody else on their way down..too many times before....and a miracle would be necessary to turn this place around.
They gave the freight to Pyle and they're not really happy with them either.
It is a shame what they have done there.

some of these carriers dont realize this data driven model doesnt work. Move the damn freight.
 
Fedex freight packs the linehaul trailers high & tight. Fedex is number 1 in freight, why can't new penn do it & b successful?

Because it's stupid....and FedEx is a nationwide hauler...not next day in the northeast..................the best way was the way it was done..the simplest and fastest way.............our 45's go anywhere....the 53's are limited.
I'd like to see the actual 'success'...I don't think they're that great.
maybe success in what the number crunchers have deemed successful by cutting back cost and using big trailers and load bars and.......nonunion workers without the rights and full pay and benefits package we have.....even with the cuts...I doubt that they make out as good as us...when you consider the healthcare costs.

Wha'ts the problem with the way it was...like a relay racer handing off a baton.....no thinking...no big stupid everlasting trailers.
I've seen FedEx Damaged returns on docks.
The low damages allowed New Penn to pick and choose what freight they were gonna haul....Now they muast take everything and anything....before they only hauled the stuff that paid good money.
 
They made $$$ the way it was and weren't smart enough to leave well enough alone. Even worse, they're not smart enough to go back to the way it was.
 
There is a employee that has 33 years in the union. Started @ 18. He knows how it should work & how to fix problems. Most TM's in the past had respect & would listen & use his help. The current TM is just the reverse. Our 33 year veteran will call him an idiot or moron to his face. He has told the TM to not even talk to him. If he wants to communicate with him get a Steward or BA before any conversation. And from what I hear, that is exactly what happens. Of course he has 33 years vested & could retire today. And the TM knows it. The old school managers in LTL trucking, did dock work. Did city P & D. Did line haul driving. They have experience & know what does & does not work for a LTL outfit to profit. Now days it is fresh college degrees hired to work the dock, line haul, & how to run a city dispatch board with 4 years of college & no days of trucking. I understand out with the old & in with the new. But the new breed does not come up thru the ranks & then promoted to run a company's operations because they have experienced it & know what to do. The ships captain now has a liberal arts degree or a degree in business in hand, with NO idea on how to steer the ship. Man the life boats, for ya all gonna need them. von.

It is by design that both Holland and New Penn is in shambles. We were the money makers and we had efficient systems that are now being utilized by other companies, while we can no longer operate and choose profitable freight as we once did.

If the regionals and even YRCW survives another 5-7 yrs it will be a miracle. At some point the banks will call the note on this mess.
