does R+L hire women drivers or women dispachers? ever seen any? If so can a women be promoted to a higher position in the company? just wondering...thx

they have alot of husband and wife teams

they also have some female solo drivers
wil.,nor.,btc. all have female solo drivers
not sure about any other terminals or about female dispatchers

Theres a gal that drives P & D at my UPS Freight terminal.
She has her own daily route, and has been with us for going on 18 years.
Shes a good worker, also gets along with our customers very good.
Us older drivers thought she wouldn't last long.
But shes proved us all wrong.

Most female employees for this company do clerical work. A few women drivers.... Never seen a woman on the dock or in dispatch.. This has been brought up before at the terminal.... We've had some very good female employees that could have been promoted to inbound/outboud supervisor and did a hell of a better job than the fools we have now!!!!!!! Remember R&L still has that 70's mentality and change is very hard for them.... I still would like to know what the bar code on the side of the trl's are for.. A big idea a long time ago that still hasn't been implemented......................

they have a scanner mounted on a pole at
Wil ,scans trls in out at gate

I think it was an idea to scan the trailers as they com in to help the inbound dispatcher (the one in the office that has no clue) keep track of freight. I know that no one in the midwest has any way of scanning them.

This is how the Rail Roads tracked their train cars for many years.
Its actually a very old system.
If you notice when a train passes by a rail crossing the next time your stopped.
You'll see these bar codes on the sides of the train cars.
Whenever the train comes into the rail yard the bar codes are scanned by the station master.
He picks out the cars that have to be unloaded A.S.A.P., and gets them switched to a priority track, the others have to wait their turn.
Every now,and then in the past some of their cars got misplaced for a long time.
I'm not sure if they ever got this system worked out?

I know about this as I work for UPS Freight, which was Overnite who was bought by Union Pacific Rail Road in 1986.
I used to follow their rail road news when they owned us.
But anyway thats the story behind the bar codes.
