got me a used junk kenworth, i took two trash bags of trash out of it , man that truck was totally nasty but i am not the only one dealing with we get the dirty junky handme downs and they give the new trucks for the same people to trash again i have been with this company 11 years a ns what thanks do i get. take care of our people. i am so disgruntled i dont care if i go to work now. thanks fed ex you guys are really starting to suck

I will have to agree with you it seems that there are only a few of us that really care about the equipment. I have a brand new Kenworth and it is slip seated after I leave and it now has a messed up mirror and dents in the back of the cab from not unhooking the lines . This was a brand new truck , of course when I asked about the damage nobody knows anything about it , I get it must of happened in the yard. Why is that I ask , they must of used for a yard horse. I think our CCM could care a bit it seems . I asked him one day if he spits on the floor in his office or puts his feet on the desk , leaves his half eaten lunch and trash on the floor.

At our place if there is damage to a tractor they will move heaven and earth to find out who did it and fire them if they didnt report it. Also they inspect trucks every month and will write you up if they are not clean.

Seems to some terminals are better than others about the equipment we supposedlly have a tractor inspection every month some of our tractors are stil filthy as far as I am concerned but I am a neat freak,I kn ow what you mean about used trucks I know two guys from a center who got tractors that had roughly 430000 on them you the one had pieces broken on the dash the wood grain trim, and it was pretty dirty, the other one alreadty had a new drivers seat minus the armrests of course and the transmission growls like mad going from 5-6 of course the guys who had drove them got brand new trucks must be nice get new ones every 430000 so just trash em who cares , Like I said in another post on another thread I got assinged one of those autoshifts most frustrating truck I have ever used I loathe the thing and like was said get to watch guys everynight with newer tractors than mine grinding and slamming them around and I have to use this thing just have to play the hand you are dealt sucks but I can see and feel your frustration everynight driver

I Know People Like All Of You Say Believe It Or Not I Have The Senority To Drive A New Truck (r-unit) But Still I Choose The Old International(l-2093) For Some Of The Same Reasons My Fellow Drivers Have Mentioned I'm The Only One Who Drives It So If Its Damaged Or Messed Up I'm The One Who Takes Resposibity For It. I Asked To Keep It And They (the Higher Ups ) Said I Would Be Put In A Recondition R-unit Thanks For Listining Take Care Of Our People And Let Them Have What Makes There Job Easier And More Comfortable And Safer For The Individual-----------just My Opinion Jb

On this subject,,, we are loosing all our 98 & 99 Volvos,, to "newer " Volvos,,, with MORE MILES.... When drivers with ALOT less miles to run get BRAND NEW trucks.... We get reclassed old 'hand me downs',, that other people have worn out... Except me here,, I'm keeping my 98,,, Year Volvo,,, Go figure... I say again,, HRO drivers all get brand new trucks with 500HP + enginges,, (ya,, really),, for a 140 mile a night run,,, we have several guys with 420-600 mile runs using older trucks... It is happening lots of places obviously,,,, I guess somebody (an office geek who NEVER drove,, much less rode in a truck) makes the decisions.... That is just BULL,, giving regular bid drivers 'reclassed' worn out junk..... Let us keep our "OLD" trucks,,, at least we know how they were kept up... And we will look around every night and see NEW drivers with Brand New trucks.... Thats a great boost for morale... Oh,, sorry,,, MORALE is a dirty word now days..... "do your job,, or else"....

I agree with keeping a truck clean.

I have to spend 8-10 hours a day in my tractor and I don't want it to be a mess. If someone else uses my tractor I expect them to leave it just the way I left it for them.

It's not tough to take your trash out at the end of the day. I don't understand why some guys have such a problemn with that

Junk, junk and more junk, that is definitely the question. I have watched the junk parade at our (terminal)shhhh for about a year now. I can not verify the tow bill, but there is a great possibility that it is more than I make working for the whole year. Towed in and towed out, The great junk parade. Also I guess the brass never listens to the mechanics like we do.

guys as bad as or equipment may be a junky reclassed fx volvo is way better than what most of the other companys drive.i know that doesn't help the issue but thats what i tell my self when i'm pissed about my equipment.it normally doesn't make feel any better but it might help you guys out.keep in mind ccx trucks don't have air or cruise or a radio and their road units are 200 hp 7 speeds.worked there 8 months i know this for fact
:Bazzoka-Cow:

I concur, I have a cruddy KW right now after driving a nice new Volvo for 1.5 years. It has a Caterpillar C12 twin turbo engine, Eaton AutoShift and the classic KW small cab and smoooooooth ride. :hysterical:

We still do have some of the better stuff out there, even if it is crippled for insurance and fuel mileage reasons.

At our barn, you can jack-knife and bend the faring and leave marks on the long box that only you pull everyday and not report it. when the road driver reports damage to the tractor, all you have to do is say, "I don't thinkd I did that," and you get three days off for not reporting damage to the equipment, and all is good again.

Like CFER said but only in my word's " DO UNTO OTHER'S AS YOU WOULD DO UNTO YOURSELF "I keep my 1million 112 thousnd red racer so clean that i can actually take a nappy if needed lying on an angle on the floor, and it also help's too a good city driver too share a truck with.

I have had the pleasure of driving the L-2000 Int. models. CCX does not have anything worse than these beasts. No radio, no air-con and two pups and a dolly.

Co-driver Respect

I agree with the people that say its good to share a truck with a driver that respects the equipment. I know that line drivers spend all day or night in the truck, and I feel for them. I am lucky in that I drive line equipment because there are not enough trucks at my terminal, and I always clean out the truck at the end of the day. We get a lot of extra line trucks because a lot of our trucks are in and out of the shop, and our drivers are given the "bombers" from the shop to drive, so I see a lot of ragged equipment out there. I even clean those up when I get in them, because I prefer to have some level of cleanliness in my day. I also smoke in them, but I keep the windows open, and I keep air freshener in my bag, and spray it inside when I park it.

dirty

My motto is A clean truck is a happy truck! There's nothing worse than starting the work day in a dirty tractor.I always bring a bottle of 409 and window cleaner,'cuz you never know what it's going to look like in there. It's ashame some drivers don't take pride in their ride.:ranting:

Does FXF assign equipment to you guys or is everyday or night a crap shoot?

At FXNL we drive the same trucks each day and we also have the option to pick our partners which makes it nice. We did things the same way as Watkins also.
