Averitt | What is Shuttle driving like at Averitt?

JNJ Trucking in Memphis has moved all of their solo to .60 and their teams to .70. Come on Averitt it is time to come up on our pay. Where is the tax break money.
JNJ pulls off of our yards every night with meet and turns like us but now make more money with faster and nicer trucks.
Truly are second class in pay at our company.
Same here at UPSF. JNJ have taken over. Road Drivers are laid off and runs are eliminated because of JNJ EXPRESS. Lol and we are Union. It’s a sad situation but wow .60 solo smh no wonder they’re taking our freight. They are doing meet and turns with y’all also? Smh yes indeed.

OD is going to be a more pleasant environment to work in, take it from me. Go read the FedEx board, there is a lot of strife over there. Not worth there little extra $$$.
Get away from Averitt. I existed for 19 years, had several 600-650 mile a night runs but had I not been the age I was, I would have left long before that. Simply did not want to go start at the bottom of someone else's board.
Averitt is a revolving door of people wanting to get their feet wet in the business; be it driving, being a mechanic, etc. Oh yes, there are a few that stick around over 20 years and make a lifelong career out of it and that is fine.
Knowing what I know today, I should have never left where I was to come to Averitt but when I did, there was no Trucking Boards to find out information. I could have been retired from a major trucking company 10 years ago but foolishly I came to Averitt. I still have my retirement in place at the former company.

I used to work for the owner of J&J 40 years ago before there was a J&J. John is a good man and I always respected him.

I have said for over 20 years that Averitt is a 3rd tier outfit. It is the same today as it was then and will be the same bottom feeder in 20 years from now that it is today (unless they are bought out and that really needs to happen)

I hired on in September of 1988, no regrets. Been Shuttling for 20 years. Spoiled stinking rotten, and getting worse as I await my new Volvo VNR next month !

Not a big Volvo fan but from what I’ve sern they seem nice. Finally updated the dash.

I have always had a Volvo. I love the way they handle and pull, I haven't ran with it driven a Fliner that can pull and keep a constant speed like my 2014. And yes I agree the Fliners ride better.

I like me a Volvo. Only can compare the day cabs, but Volvos have better handling, yes, and better driving position too. My shoulders always start to ache after a couple hours in a Freightliner. The only thing I prefer about the Freightliners is the tighter turning radius.

The Volvo’s kill my knees and back. I feel like I can’t get the seat low enough and far enough back.

Been Shuttling for 20 years.

I decided on Shuttle if and when they ship me off to orientation. My SVC director said they run Milwaukee to Louisville / Nashville area. 2500-3000 miles a week. Leave Monday, come back Tuesday. Leave Wednesday, come back Thursday. Leave out Friday but do a meet and swap so home Saturday morning. The two layovers would be in a motel so no sleeper. How's this compare to what you run?

I run out of Nor, we have no laydown runs anymore. All of our lay downs were cut when the economy crashed back in 07 or 08. New hires at my barn would not be getting 500 miles a night.

I ran a lay down to Chicago for years and enjoyed them, plenty of rest and the week flew by. I currently do a nightly turn. To clarify, you will go out Monday night, layover Tuesday, come home Tuesday night, sleep at home Wednesday and do it again, meet Friday night. I think you will love Shuttle.

I think you will love Shuttle.

I think I would too.

I have another job lined up at Old Dominion for P&D but that's a whole different animal. Shuttle is much more my style. OD is probably the top company in LTL but I think I would be a lot less stressed and a whole lot happier at Averitt. It's not all about the money to me.

I'm stunned that the two companies I have wanted to work for most have offered me excellent jobs fresh out of school. I am agonizing over this decision.
