There is absolutely no way in hell he can hack it as a truck driver. Best case scenario, he slumps over the steering wheel and dies quietly like a little bird. Next-best case scenario, he's involved in a one-vehicle wreck, and he saves the company some money. Worst case scenario, he costs the company millions of dollars in litigation.
Welcome to my world.Man, what a deal! I can see me now, my first trip after a 28 yr retirement, half way to my destination, 3 or 4 pee
stops and 1or 2 naps, I stop to eat, come back outside, "where the hell did I park my truck, or was I driving my pickup?" was I going south or north?................ "I believe I'll give this job thing a little more thought".
It must be a short run to only stop 3 or 4 times to pee at the half way point. I normally have to pee twice before I finish my pretrip inspection. Once when I arrive at work and again before I leave the yard.Man, what a deal! I can see me now, my first trip after a 28 yr retirement, half way to my destination, 3 or 4 pee

Oh,...........and one more thing..........87 year old insurance man "never saved enough for his pension".........
You CAN outlive your 401(k)!
And this is the.....filthy, lousy "choice" that's left to this guy............
Special place in Hell for the corporate 401(k) "salesman" who told you that you'll be a..."millionaire".....
Wreck those defined-benefit pensions!........that'll "fix" the employment shortage!
Doc, you are absolutely correct. Most people live longer now than 30 years ago. My wife swears I will never retire. I'm taking a long weekend so I can vote on my supplement tomorrow and I worked all day in my garden, on our cars (washing, new wiper blades, air filters, tire rotation), cleaned our fire pit, and just finished Bush hogging my 5 acre front pasture. And according to my ELD I have been off work 16:17A relative who is in his late 70's just went back to work behind the wheel. He had driven several years ago & has recently lost his wife. He participates in triathalons & is in perfect health & his mind is still sharp. The small trucking company said he was one of the few applicants that volunteered to take a drug test on the spot. The company that insures the company quickly gave the go ahead to hire him. I see nothing wrong with him working a few years to supplement his social security. He certainly is a much safer driver than a lot of younger steering wheel holders.
Retired nine years after 36 years as a combination dock driver. At age 67 my right shoulder needs to be rebuilt. The left shoulder is starting to act up. Sometimes I want to just drop things on the floor ahead of time and then pick them up. But I wouldn't of done anything different. Driving a truck and working the dock as a Teamster for 35 years worked out well for me. Now if I could just find my can of Bud Light.Kidneys and backs and shoulders........
Suntan on left arm,...heavy muscles on arms and shoulders,......big belly from sitting.........no hips at all .........chicken white legs from never seeing the sun from the waist down........permanently furrowed brow from pondering life’s intricate fickleness....and the nearness of the men’s room......walking with a limp due to hemorrhoids with calluses........
Yeah,.....I can pick a truck driver out of a crowd anytime.......
We have a guy ( Vietnam vet ) 70 years old. Still working P&D to make sure his wife has medical coverage. Wears Depends. Uses suspenders to keep his pants up when the undergarments get full.I'm still in my 30s, and I swear to God I'm going to get some Depends any day now.
