Interview tomorrow for City driver casual reading some threads seem pretty negative not sure what to expect out of this job any thoughts would be appreciated!
one concern I have is the casual part starting pay ok paid insurance awesome the casual part I really don’t know much about, I’m just concerned I might not be working 40hrs a week?Just show up and drive, try your best, it is not a bad job, people are mad about give backs, with hopefully come back next year
Like many things in life, working for YRCF is what YOU make it. When all aspects of the employment package are considered, it is an above average job.Haha all truck drivers groan it’s our nature I pay no mind, will do interview in morning Im going to check it out appreciate it !
Why not apply at Fedex Freight, and skip the BS?
Erma Bombeck's book title springs to mind. "The Grass Is Always Greener Over The Septic Tank".Exactly, there is without a doubt, unequivocally and most certainly, no BS at FedEx Freight. It’s utopian feel is mesmerizing!
company ppl holding a grudge on former drivers cause they abandoned ship....oh well karmas a bitch....you want to fill in their shoes....good luck driving yourself crazy for peanuts cause you will work with morons, lots and lots of morons that will just smile at you saying oh good job but really they are your enemy, they want to fire you and replace you, they are snakes, why work in a vipers den...you a glutton for punishment?
You say what you say. I am just giving this guy pointers on "why" people are disgruntled at this outfit. It was a good company with good people but now you are left with people that are just waiting it out to retire ashamed of what this company has become while at the same time you have people in the higher ranks making bad decisions on purpose to achieve some goals that are very unpopular to the majority of the workers that are still remaining. Instead of "I hate to be this guy duhhh" remarks why don't you add something to this thread that will support whether this guy wants to spend his time with this outfit. Lots of people left and you are one of the types that says oh "I wonder why" with a stupid grin on your face. Grow up and tell him your experience. I am telling him mine.
With the bitterness you have revealed, why are you still employed at YRCF? Maybe because you fear leaving. Or maybe you are self aware enough to understand that no other carrier would consider you. With every carrier pleading for drivers, obviously they are very careful who they hire. Can you compete in that pool of highly qualified prospective employees. When the ENTIRE wage and benefit package is considered, YRCF is still an above average job. Is it as good as it was 30 years ago? No, but very little in America is!You say what you say. I am just giving the guy some advice that might "stress" him out. You know the incompetent manager(s) that does not communicate to his demands as to how he is to be treated fairly. Say if he gets harassed and goes to a shop steward, the shop steward just gives him "his word" that he will "take care of it" and then you get "he never told me about that" a few weeks/months later. You want to defend liars so be it. You want to defend corruption thats your choice. Not everybody is going to tolerate the bs as much as you had. If you want to consider it some feat that you dealt with it and persisted well good for you. Not everybody is dealt the same hand at the company. He might be dealt a bad hand and how he plays it is up to him. You can go on and on and everything gets into details but at the end of the day the people here now are not as good as it used to be. I remember the good coworkers and reliable professional managers. What you have now.....no comment but I do wish the best for what he experiences and if he sees it is not for him he is entitled to move on. I am just educating him more than being a cheerleader for him.
