ABF | Blue flu

We need a blue flu to get our vacation back. They lied about giving our vacation back now we need to stand up
They never "lied" to us. They did cloud the language but many Brothers put it out there that most of us would not get our vacation back this year! It was spread here, Facebook, Twitter, TDU and many other sites. I myself posted that if nothing else in this contract mattered to you vote NO! just to get our vacations back unequivocally! Every employee reverts back to the vacation policy we were hired during our previous I'd guess... 4 contracts. 1-1yr, 2-2yr,3-8yr and so on. Company claimed it was in fairness to who lost it already but I think most of us know better! Sadly as this contract progresses I think you'll find a few more problems that you and many more never took the time to understand. Vacations are one of the many reasons in this contract some of our ABF Brothers are looking to jump ship. Up here in N.E. many Nons are willing to pay higher up the progression ladder if you have experience and a good driving record some even top pay.

Some people can't lose with dignity or respectability. Nor can they accept that others may have different ideas of what they consider a fair contract.

That's true.
We all have different views and opinions.
But we also have to think as a whole.
Our contract is coming up soon. Not a peep from anyone anywhere.
Except speculation. But seek g how it is so close. And we are on the cliffs edge it seems they would speak up now. And not wait until January or February. Or even later.
I hope you guys can make the best with what you have. I don't know what that is because I'm not informed completely on your contract.

Just so you know I was a no vote and was very informed on the contract but our rep did and still insist that the union is fighting this and say they understood that we are supposed to get it

But as you can see from opiebong's post some just did not read the proposal. At a 20+ man barn I'd go with 8 that admitted they never read a thing! Just go with what the the Union says... like many. I voted no and I lost. I work just as hard every day now as I did before this contract and I'll go out on a limb and say every no voter at my barn does too! Sure we complain a little more but that's to be expected. It's what we do, put the work in front of us and when humanly possible we will do it. Whether or not ABF will be able to continue to hire workers who think like this remains to be seen.

Again if you read the proposal it said what we are actually getting. Agreed it was hard to understand and I got 4 different answers up here from people who should know exactly! Few Locals stood up and told us what was really going on but it was out there for all to read. They sold us a "Bridge" Brother and even the staunchest supporters of the yes vote will eventually see it.

I'm confused, what exactly is the union fighting? The vacation? The contract? Everyone going out on the blue flu?

I am not happy that the vote was yes but that isn't the point. We were told that we were getting our vacation back and that is a lie

We have been told by our rep that the union says we get our vacation and the company is saying no. That is all I know and we are to grieve not getting our week back
