Did you know?

From From John Smith, President-CEO.

"Expanding our physical footprint. Our new Kansas City service center, with 336 doors, will be the largest in the FedEx Freight network when it opens in January 2019. In the next four months, nine new or expanded service centers will open, allowing us to better serve customers and meet rising volume demand."

Anyone have a list of the "nine new or expanded service centers"? Details?

Joliet, IL. Opened as a service center last year and they are making it a hub come next bid. So now there will be 3 Chicago land hubs within 40 miles of each other.

Sounds like a new road driver's dream. Hit all 3 and get 120 miles. And think of the drop & hooks!
One word.. traffic.
If it wasnt for delay pay, no point being a new Chicagoland driver into those locations.
Example 51 miles to CGT, will take double during morning commute, so pay is less than inexperienced dock worker.

I heard CGT is getting heat installed. If true, I guess my reaction would be angry laughter, if there is such a thing.

Midway MDW heat is turned off. Mgr said costs are ridiculously high; can't imagine CGT making the investment.

Lift exhaust is the heating system!
They need a filtration system as CGT is the filthiest hub.

EFH is getting additional 500k pounds of freight sent their way. Supervisors were not told where it’s coming from or what kind of freight it is. Guess it’s all happening come Jan. With them getting that busy I think the relaxed calm atmosphere will go away. Anyone who runs to that hub probably knows what I mean.

Yay more freight!
They need to stop assigning empties.
Two drivers hooking side by side with 53's limiting space while 20 other empties elsewhere on the lot.

True. It’s more fun when there’s a PT guy in your way too over there. I had one the other day I had to hook on the shop line in front of a light pole. Couldn’t make it with the twin screw I had that night. So I had to pull the darn thing out. Never do that again, ask for another empty next time lol.

I was surprised for the same reason, but our district manager was the one who told us. I also heard that MAU is getting heat along with their expansion, but that was told to me by a driver who might have just been joking :)
