Estes | New rumors!!!

What happened? The big wigs along with Rob Estes went around to many terminals telling drivers that the biggest raise that Estes has ever given is coming. Well I guess since.0223 was the last biggest .0225 is the truth. LOL What would of normally been a decent raise if they would of not hyped it up is now disappointing. O well, should of known better. Grateful for the raise, not liking the hype seems sleazy.
23 yrs of trucking...this is the biggest raise I've ever gotten

couple more vacation days for some of us.

Not true, they said we're getting $280 a day for vacation and $225 for holidays.
That might be right. In 1-2016 ABF paid 45 straight hours * your hourly for vacation. For Holiday pay it was 8 straight. If you worked 8 on a holiday it worked out to be about triple time. You were paid 8 hours @ double your hourly. And 8 straight for the Holiday pay. I think this is correct. Please correct me if I am wrong. von.

We had 1 guy @ ABf work 13.5 hours on Labor Day. Most of the time was shagging empties. I think his rate @ the time was 23.50. * straight 13.5 = 317.25. Double rate 47.00 * 13.5 = 634.50. Total 951.75. To get that rate the rule was he had to work the day before the holiday or the day after. But not both. Guys & myself included would mark off, not take the sick day to save it, & then make for a long weekend off. After a while you learned how to play the marking off game. I worked 2 holidays like that in 18 years & realized I valued my time off more than the money. The longer I worked their the more I favored the time off versus the money. The funny thing is the dispatcher after 7 hours told the driver he was going home, left him a list in the break room of empties to crank & yank. Some of the rank & file wanted to know why he got to work so long. Dispatch showed them the list & asked why they did not sign the sheet for extra work? That ended the conversation. 2 days before some of our customers wanted to know when we would pick up the empties. Amazon being # 1 on the list. So the wages were justified in the eyes of ABF. von.

A friend of mine worked through the holidays, he made over $2,800 and brought home a pinch over $1,600. He did have about $150 in child support.. the rest was tax.. once you make so much, it really isn't all that important about what they pay. I'm just glad I work for a company that is laid back and don't nitpick about dumb ::shit::. Js

Webb came in for our meeting. Some of the things he shared.

OT policy is getting changed to 52 hours instead of 55

All new trucks getting bought are split between freightliners and internationals, all will be automatics. Pretty much came down to those being the best deals. As far as autos, belief is schools and such will be teaching more autos in future and lots of 'auto only' drivers going to be the future. Our school will still teach manual. Says 10 speeds will still be available for long time.

Theirs a new feature they're testing out that lets the trucks coast more going down hill and gain speed to then go uphill. Has helped a lot with mpg and they've been raising governor a tad on these trucks 1-2mph more. Plan to roll out company wide

The above listed vacation day changes

P&d should expect handhelds at all terminals by spring.

One of the reasons new trucks been taking so long to get is peoplenet is behind on providing computers. So they have had trucks just sitting waiting for elogs

Gliders being phased out of linehaul asap

Usual stuff, company is doing well, we need drivers ect ect. That's all I can remember off hand.
