Th
is was a complete overreaction by the market today.
Nope the market is waking up to the cruddy slipshod dishonest
management we have. It always blamed us, the lazy dishonest workers, Now it sees our leadership for what they are.
While not completely on topic, One of our (Holland) sales people told a customer " We'll always beat anyone's price
we have the lowest paid employees and that isn't going to change". The only thing better for mr hawkins is if the stock goes to 0
or negative. Then they have some real bargaining power. Hopefully every customer yellow has sues, and goes right back at welch and pierson.

Gentlemen (and ladies too):
The U.S. Attorney in Buffalo didn't just get up yesterday and decide to sue YRCW. This has been building for a long time. Without a doubt, the suit was filed because the Fed couldn't get YRCW to "do the right thing". What are the consequences? We saw that yesterday when the stock plummeted to an all-time low. If you compare the stock price 10 years ago (in other words, undo the reverse splits) the stock closed yesterday at less than 1/23th of a penny. At this point, much of the "white" linehaul equipment is leased, most of the new trailers are leased, all of the forklifts that were obtained in the last year are leased, and I think I read that the recently obtained yard trucks are leased. While the corporation hasn't declared bankruptcy, they are clearly insolvent, and in a major way.
What has gone on and continues to go on in Overland Park is shameful. It reminds me of a monkey throwing darts at a dartboard, hoping that something scores a bulls eye. For that matter, a lot of what goes on in the terminals is shameful. Quite a bit of that is our own Teamster brothers and sisters NOT DOING THEIR JOBS.
Let's face it, folks; do you want to have a job at YRC or not? If you do, get your rump in gear, demand that your managers at all levels get their rumps in gear, and make it happen. To be a viable company, we have to move freight. We have to do it right, we have to do it efficiently, and we have to give a damn! Do you hear me?

i disagree. loading freight on top of one another is foolish but thats what they want. at new penn they let it ride on the floor nowhere near the claims that yrc gets. too lazy to put another trailer online. just keep using pups instead of 53s for your linehaul to get another 3 feet of space. think of the labor, the workers comp claims and delays hooking doubles causes compared to loading the freight on the floor.
All LTL companies utilize pups and load high and tight, it has nothing to do with laziness. Shorthaul companies can operate that way because there shipments dont go as far. We ship coast to coast, it is most cost effective to get the most freight they can on the trailers. If the people loading know the freight and what theyre doing there would be a low percentage of damages. Pups were also used because you could load headers high and tight that didnt have to be moved again.

I have heard that from several shippers, YRC has the lowest paid employees in the industry. They will be any carriers prices. It is a pricing strategy...
