It's been over a year since I been at ground..... back then ground was not hauling that much Amazon..... very little as a matter of fact.If it’s going to sting anyone the most it would be UPS small pack and FedEx ground.
Amazon is building an air hub to combat the high shipping rate increases imposed on them by UPS and FedEx. They claim 1-2 billion a year saved by doing this.

I don't think Amazon delivering it's own packages has a effect on ltl...if you think about it we picked up ltl then condensed it into trailers and delivered to Amazon to go out in package cars..even for there own drivers... Amazon, will have all the problems of a shipping company then, also. Amazon will become so segmented, it won't be able too control itself. When you try to do and be everything, you are usually not great at any one thing.
Your Scranton Pa. terminal laid 2 drivers off. Your driver/ trainer had a road driver with him yesterday showing him the ropes of P&D, he decided to bump in to keep working. It sounded like it was going to be permanent not a few weeks....Lot of small minihubs(I heard 20) are closing Christmas and New year week. That's causing us to layoff 5 road drivers. As far as pick ups go we are about the same as before the close down.
