So, we are now a month a out from the company/ibt vote yes or else slow shut down.

So, I will ask, what power and what does this union actually have and what does the union actually do?

Simply, I has only the power UPS grants it.
Being that the grievance process is a company controlled process. Just how many deadlocked grievances has the ibt arbitrated, since it has been at ups and ups freight? I know of only 1 at ups freight, though there are hundreds of deadlocked grievances. So what good is a grievance process when ups knows the ibt won't arbitrate deadlocked cases? Its basically, the ibt processes a grievance and either ups agrees to settle or deadlocks it. So we are all at the mercy and benevolence of ups, since the head ups lap dog Hoffa won't arbitrate deadlocked cases.

So, what does the ibt actually do?
1. Enforces seniority
2. Enforces numbers(pay rate- medical costs)
3. Just cause.
4. Top knotch medical coverage and cost.
5. Collects dues.

I worked for a non union LTL at one time that mimicked and/or came very close to the union pay and benefits to keep them out.
Great company that followed the seniority, you got canned for legitimate issues.
I’ve heard of other companies not being so fair.

IBT in my opinion is like an insurance policy. They are there when you need them because the above you stated was not always followed pre UPS Freight unionization. You have local inexperienced management shooting from the hips, letting their personal anger get into work issues and taking it out on drivers.
Favoritism etc.
I work hard...I give 110% most of the time.

IMO...Because of the union wages and benefits, the non union LTL wages and benefits are competitive for the ones that can compete, otherwise it would probably be half or 3/4 the scale.

I feel change is coming once the old guard Hoffa steps aside.

I deduct my dues at tax time.

Not in 2019. go read the new Tax Laws. The Teamsters are a half assed excuse for a Labor Union that has been dying out since the 1980,s. just about every LTL company that has been organized by them has either gone bankrupt or will go bankrupt in the next 10 years. UPS is the anomaly. They own the Teamsters. enjoy your representation.

top notch medical? Really? If they ever get around to approving claims. I have 3 pending claims from October that have been RE-submitted 3 times. Legitimate claims from my wife's regular physicians that are in network. 2 other claims went all the way to final notices from the IN Network providers. my guess is Team care has to push claims away just like freight companies deny freight claims to accrue interest on what little money they have to operate. so yes the coverage is good but the actual administering of the health plan is worthless. if you do not stay on top of your claims and have providers RE submit multiple times then the claims will go to collections and mess up your credit. Enforce seniority? Nope. UPSF does what they want and if you speak up about being passed over they get hostile and start the intimidation tactics that big brown is famous for. enforce pay rate? Nope. we had guys get screwed around on progression rates for months on end. then told no back pay for the company screw up.

Never had any problems with medical coverage. In fact have always been told by every doctors or dentists office, that I have great coverage.

As far as pay, never had an issue that wasn't fixed in a timely manner, and seniority grievances are just about the only slam dunk grievance you can almost always win.

Same, absolutely no issues on my end.
My dentist actually gave me a refund of my portion a few times and said, “You have one of the best dental coverages around, they pay more than anyone else”

How much do they allow the dentist per year?

I also have never ever, not even one time had any issues with claims being paid regarding Teamcare Health, Dental and Vision benefits. I also have used Hyatt Legal and used them for legal documents regarding purchased property and living wills, never had a problem.

YRC is leading the industry down the tubes. Driving down wages, rates and our safety reputation. They operate rolling garbage, brag how they can provide cheap rates due to the lowest wages in the industry.
Then try to get Congress/Taxpayers to pay for the pensions they did not contribute to...
All with the unions blessings..
No wonder there are so few union jobs in our industry and why most non union carriers pay better....
