If YRC folded forcing drivers to look for work, would your pay after a year somewhere else be 200.00 a week more than what you made @ YRC? Most companies are paying about 26.00 an hour. What is the hourly @ YRC now? I know the benefits are great compared to others, but I am just talking about wages. von.

With current YRC Team Care benefits, change would not be best for your bottom line. And if you have a family with kids & someone has a chronic medical problem, YRC is still the best bet. von.

im 100% with you von. just going over my 2018 med and drug claims. over 200k with about 1100 out of pocket. nowhere else can that be beat.
With today's job market I would first ask about the benefits & talk to the people that work there. The wages you probably know already. It is the deductible, scrip cost, single/family out of pocket yearly, & co-pays that can add up. Based on your medical costs, it sounds like you Family medical coverage might be worth more than your wages by a long shot. von.

What about time plus half after 8 ? Nobody offers that with our benefits we still win

Remember when the pension fund goes broke in 2025 YRC goes out of business. YRC will be on the hook for 9 billion dollars. Trucking companies don’t come back from bankruptcy. But your lucky, they will go belly up long before 2025 we guarantee it.

Any pension fund obligation a company has when it files for bankruptcy is ALWAYS I repeat ALWAYS discharged by the court. Remember, I said the laws in the USA are written to favor the employer NOT the employee. And bankruptcy law is no different. von.

Standard Forwarding made a comeback after Bankruptcy I think YRC is going to do the same thing I hope I am wrong?

If YRC uses Chapter 7, its all over. Doors closed. If using 11 it reorganizes the debit, stays open & try's to survive. In 7 the pension money & the union workers are toast, just like the YRC. von. Most but not all Chapter 11 turn in to Chapter 7.

Collective Bargaining Agreements
Union contracts, or collective bargaining agreements, are not safe in Chapter 11 bankruptcy. In fact, some companies have filed Chapter 11 cases with the express intention of using the bankruptcy laws to seek negotiation of new terms even though the union contract has not expired.

When such a contract becomes burdensome to the debtor company, the bankruptcy laws allow the debtor company to reject the contract. Rejecting the contract can have a positive effect on the company's ability to reorganize, but it will carry significant consequences, just as it would if it breached the contract outside of bankruptcy.

In order to bring about the best possible outcome for the company, the debtor will often seek concessions and modifications from the unionized workforce. If the company's financial predicament is severe, a failure to come to terms with its unions can spell disaster for the debtor and lead to the necessity of converting the case to Chapter 7 and liquidation.

You know I owe a lot to Roadway express they made me the man I am today. I work and gave 110 percent hoping that I could retire at 30 and out at 55 years old. My buddies were retired at 50 with 30 years at 2950 a month. I feel if yellow wouldn’t of use the banks (bad guys) to by us my dreams were to come true. But Roadway gave me opportunity to live with in my means and 33 years later I will work for yellow as long as they last, but they won’t get me twice. Yellow Management should be in jail but as far as the teamsters go everything makes a circle and one day they will be back strong again.
Note to future works don’t start young you will get screwed.

So who’s retiring before April? Would it not be wise to get out now or wait to see? Million dollar question. I’m 62 with 29 years and all my paperwork ready for exit.

How much more can the Teamsters take from the ones paying in? You don’t see them taking from other out of business companies.
I’d have to wait till April and screw Yrc till then for letting them single us out.

No I don't want YRC to fail I am realist do you really think we are going to get any of the 15% back or pension? It's been really slow here at 309 never seen it so bad bottom extra board drivers haven't gone out in 2 weeks.
I am retired. So I comment from the side lines. I would hope the rank & file turn down the first offer. That is a given in any offer. The second time around might be ok. But please, don't take the first offer. It shows you are weak. And the company will try even more to abuse that contract every time they can. von.

Exit & never look back. I did & love every minute of it. The medical coverage is the big issue. Get it thru the union & it will still be pretty good coverage. von.
