You heard it here first, there will be a huge change at Southeastern this year. June 1st we will see new leadership take over and I think it's a move in the right direction.

I think it takes effect June 3. I believe it's the same leadership, just new roles as Tobin moves into his father's spot. Coley and Keith are moving up but trying to see your optimism. Maybe you know a little more than I. In that case, I hope your right.

What direction change do you think we will see?
Being that it's only a change in title and maybe a slight added responsibility, my expectations are minimal. At our house, we let one of these individuals know that RIC has an outbound problem. They close loads out to meet close out times but are still loading trucks at 8:45, 30 minutes after their closed out and linehaul drivers cannot meet outbound compliance times. They're fudging their numbers and it's still going on even after complaining about it to senior corporate leadership. So, if that's any indication of the change we can see, then there will be no change.

Numbers rule. Anyone with any time here knows the score on that. Let them have the numbers where they need to be; all I ask is for them to have the integrity they demand from us

Tobin is stepping down as President of Southeastern and giving full control to Keith Heaton effective June 1st. For us I think it's a great change. Keith does not have as many irons in the fire as Tobin and his focus will be mainly on Southeastern. Tobin has so many other ventures on his plate he can focus on Southeastern as he should. Rob Smith will be taking Keith Heaton place as #3 in the company.

This does not fill me with hope. They are numbers guys through and through whereas Tobin is more of a people person. I think this move will push our culture toward that of the regular old ltl even faster than it’s been moving that direction

Right now you really have have a major screw up to get fired here. Will the new leadership make it easier to get rid of what they view as a troublemaker? We have older guys here who speak their minds and are not Yes men. Will they be the first to go?

This doesn't fill me with a lot of hope either. I do have a lot of faith in Coley, I personally think he'd be the better #1 man and Keith or someone else #2. When Keith was our RVP we never saw him at our service center at all except once for a cookout. I didn't find him very personable. Coley, on the other hand, was very personable and seemed very genuine and would listen to any concerns you had even asking your input on some situations. I don't know what the future holds, but I'll stick to my "be seen and not heard" mentality cause at the end of the week, all Southeastern owes me is a paycheck in exchange for my work.

How can Rob be number 3 ? He left the company a few weeks ago

SEFL is not the only company that does this. Its an industry problem to make the numbers look good.

One big change has been the loss of easy in and out no touch freight at Home Depot and Lowe’s. Know what we are replacing it with? Nothing. No new regular shippers. It wouldn’t matter if we get new accounts; we can’t pickup what we have now because too many are rotated off
