My main thing would be stop the over hiring nonsense. Bottom GPD getting 40 hrs a week whole year is a little over 57k. That is pathetic pay for a truck driver these days. Increase in 401k would be great, but let's be realistic doubt they are going to do anything with it. At least give city drivers the chance to make decent money (ot) so we can put more in our 401.

Ditto. I get about 40 to 43+-. Best week was 48 (once in the last year).
My check with 48 was good. I would be better off with 48 to 50 +.
But I am one of the lucky ones our bottom city drive was coming in at 14:00 and going home at 21:00. He spent most of his day on the dock. This is changing now but I an still below 45 every week.

Dose anybody see a common theme?? BETTER PAY ACROSS THE BOARD! NOW THIS WOULD BE OUTSTANDING!

I took the survey this morning and there was only 1 question about benefits and it just wanted to know if you were satisfied with them. And I think last year we were able to add a comment at the end of the survey but this year that is not an option.

No last year was the first year you could not make comments. Imo the survey is joke now.

An Aprils Fools joke??
It did start on April Fools Day.
The survey is anonymous?
It is for your benefit?
It will help the company better understand you?
If you are unhappy with benefits / pay the company will use this survey to improve them?

APRIL FOOLS the joke is on me thinking i would be heard. :grouphug:

Disappointing, no doubt. Haven't taken it yet, so I'll bite my tongue for now.

I don't know how they plan to keep city drivers if we are getting very little ot. I mean what is going to keep city drivers here the insurance and pension :biglaugh:

I wish they’d get all of you drivers that want to work overtime on a separate board so those of us that don’t want to live at work could go home at a decent hour. I agree that pay should go up, but I don’t need to work 50+ hours a week.

A simple volunteer list could/would work. Win/Win.

During the Union debate, a solid 50% of drivers were irritated at having to go back out (excess OT), at the end of the day. The other 50% were irritated that they were NOT offered the excess OT. The upper level conversation went like this: "That's a great solution, have you spoken to local leadership about this? You should". I then did. The obvious solution was never actually attempted/tried, or taken seriously.

In light of that, let's not hold our breath...

On the actual survey, the lack of any open ended question(s) is disappointing. Most certainly a missed opportunity. More about your immediate leadership, defined as your Center Manager, than anything else.

Because they could give two :crap: 's, let's be honest here.
You're all just an ass in the seat to them.
But I'm not picking on just FedEx, most corporate entities could care less.

Guess Oct. (compensation increase) will be telling, on just what value will really be placed on being the industry leader.

With so many changes as the Corporate Brass level, who knows?

I wonder if any of the question will actually address any concerns we have? Are the questions skewed toward mainly judging leadership? I have a hunch that the October increase will not be exceptional, perhaps 60 cents. As a side note did anyone else catch the former senior vice president of transportation, planning, and strategy for FedEx Freight jumping ship to work for Amazon?

The survey is pointless and can actually make things worse. For example, communication is horrible. We recently had a customer move locations. The customer sent a letter to the company telling them this, when the move was happening, and the new address, which is across town from where they were. No one bothered telling the drivers. The drivers had to figure that out on their own. Because the survey question only asks how we feel communication is, without asking for any examples, the driver just puts that it’s “poor”.

The results come back, showing drivers feel communication is substandard, and they’re going fix it. Now we’re forced to show show up an hour early once or twice a month for “driver information meetings” that takes 5 minutes and covers information anyone that’s worked here more than a year has heard about 5 times already.

I told them communication is just fine so I could avoid the aggravation.

And sadly, you think this is something new. In the late 1980's, likely before you were even born, Viking, the much revered mother company, moved our Calexico CA terminal and failed to tell anyone who didn't work there. I was dispatched there from LA, and went to the old terminal to find it deserted. Since cell phones were rare, I had to drive to a pay phone and call dispatch. They had no idea the terminal had moved. I drove around town for over an hour until I happened to find the new facility and enter it. At the time, Viking as an 11 state western company less was a pimple on FedEx freight's Elephant ass.

What I described happened in the past month. You know, relevant to the conversation at hand.

I disagree. Any time they want to pay me to learn something, I'm all in.

Usually, if you pay attention in these meetings, there are (at least some) good things to know.

There is a good chance your local leadership will be quite pleased. Much easier on them if you don't know everything.

I hope you are wrong. I know of a few drivers waiting to see, considering jumping ship. It is a drivers market.

As a side note did anyone else catch the former senior vice president of transportation, planning, and strategy for FedEx Freight jumping ship to work for Amazon?

Yeah, I remember hearing something about that. Here it is:

Former FedEx career employee Sean Healy joins Amazon
https://dailymemphian.com/article/4127/Former-FedEx-career-employee-Sean-Healy-joins-Amazon

"Healy, 52, was with FedEx more than 32 years, starting as a package handler at the Memphis world hub.

He was senior vice president, transportation, international, planning and strategy, at FedEx Freight, before leaving Memphis last summer. Before that he was vice president, planning and engineering support, and managing director, project and engineering support, both at FedEx Express.

His move to Amazon comes as the e-commerce giant moves to build out its own delivery network and FedEx continues to fend off questions about whether Amazon poses a competitive threat in the shipping industry."
