Estes | A Change In Linehaul Coming Eventually??

There have been a few rumors floating around that there may be plans to change
The way Linehaul is done. Maybe even going to a FedEx model ( all out and back )
Half way meets etc. What Xtraboard they would have will have sleepers and will eliminate motel expenses. Has anyone heard anything about this from management that would know??

If they do a fedex or ups freight way extra board, I dont think to many guys gonna like it because now u have to worry about getting back out once u return to your home terminal depend how they set it up first in, first out or a hog board.

I much rather stay out 5 days in rack up the miles then come back home and hope I get out the next day.

You stay out and I will come back home !!

Everything is always changing " next year". Rumor decoder ring says when you hear the phrase it's coming next year, don't believe it. Starting and effective today all drivers who go home empty will now have to wait for brokered backhaul load. No more empty miles. If you haul one more mty trailer your fired! Estes has big linehaul changes coming. Never now though, it can wait. Hotels will never see a Estes truck again. Boards are merging and you will never be able to take time off in summer only winter. Next year Estes is taking back raises. Next year you will have less vacation. Next year your seniority will not matter. Next year Estes is closing 10 terminals and opening 50. Next year extra board will stay out 20 days and be home more. Next year hub drivers will work the dock so we can get out on time. Can't wait till next year!!!!!!!!

50 percent drivers won't like it because bottom half will be like hub drivers working dock several hours before returning home . Top half might work dock might not depends if loads available to return home.

Heard that Markham is losing the hub to Chicago and Chicago is losing most of their East-West freight and W Middlesex freight to Joliet. It doesn't surprise me. You could drive around Joliet blindfolded and would never hit anything it's so empty in there.

When are they supposed to roll out to self dispatch company-wide?

I'm looking into a position in Charlotte titled.. Combination Local/Regional Driver
What will this consist of? I'm looking for linehaul and don't mind sleeping out couple nights a week but not really trying to be in a sleeper

The position that your referring to is a Combo
Position. Used to be called Utility Driver. This job fills in across the spectrum . Dock , P&D
Hub , and Linehaul. You may work P&D one week, fill in on a hub run the next. The advantage of being Combo is you fill in for scheduled runs and not out all week like the Xtraboard is. Once you get a feel of what you like and a opportunity arises, your combo time can transfer into one of the categories
After spending 90 days in that particular category. In other words, say you get a opportunity to get a hub run. If you run hub for 90 days , then you can transfer your combo time into hub category. Maybe this helps. Linehaul schedule and Extraboard Linehaul Fall under Linehaul category. Hub is it's own category ( drive to hub ,work dock, return to your home Terminal everyday)
And P&D is it's own category also.

That's for all the great info very helpful. By any chance would you know if Charlotte ever hires for extra board? I'm honestly only looking to go right in for linehaul
