Does anyone know if yrc drivers have to use company doctor for recertification or can you pay for it yourself and go to your own doctor??

As long as he’s on the DOT registry he can use his or her own doctor. Now if you do, you have to pay for it yourself but you always can file for reimbursement from company. As long if it’s within what they pay they might pay it back.

Or offer information on how to lower your blood pressure when you take your DOT physical.
I went for my dot physical on monday has to be a certified doctor. My blood pressure is always through the roof when i go, I am treated for it. What I've been doing for years is taking a note from my doctor with my last 3 readings & the have to pass you....

Always go to your own doctor for DOT physicals develop a relationship with them not the company Dr. Almost everyone I know that went to the company Dr. was recommended for a sleep study put on a CPAP machine now they have to wear a Darth Vader mask every night plus then the company knows everything about you. 3 months before your physical expires get a non official DOT physical so if you have any issues you have time to get it fixed plus possible able to get a 3 month temp extension.

I know that the CPAC situation is probably abused but, in my case, I had it. The company pays for the program and it works. I use the nasal mask, which just covers the nose and not the full face, and I sleep so much better. The nightmares, which is your body's way of trying to wake you up so that you will breathe, have gone away.

If you quit driving a truck, the nightmares go away too....

Holland driver here. At my terminal, only the HR person can tell you what terminal to use. NO OTHER DOCTOR REGARDLESS OF CERTIFICATION can issue a DOT physical. We use Concentra clinics. At concentra, all drivers are morbidly obese, have sleep apnea and a sleep study is required. If you pass the sleep study, (you won't) concentra doctors still won't issue a DOT card, because you're morbidly obese and have sleep apnea, and require a CPAP machine.
Obviously, there is some of my usual sarcasm here, but it isn't far far off the mark. The local's position is, pay cash for the test and they'll grieve it. No guarantees, but you should not be using your health care to pay for it. Not the unions problem.
My doctor isn't certified for DOT physicals, but my chiropractor is. His reading of the latest guidlines is he only has to suggest a sleep study per the law. It's not required. My doc's take is "you've had 2 sleep studies, both negative, I can't really recommend you for another one. Your health has gotten better you've lost weight, so i don't see the need for another one"
I'll be going through this next month after I recover from retinal detachment,I'm not sure i'll pass the vision requirement, and not sure if i want to go through this anymore.. I guess i don't much care either way. I'm not sure why there would be a difference between yrc and the regionals but no one will cross our hr person. You yrc guys should consider yourself lucky if you don't have the roadblocks that we do.
Many would say to fight all this but I don't think I should have to fight the hall and holland. I've lost a lot of faith in the union, and Whatever nutless piece of crap we get to vote on will make my decision for me. Sorry for this longwinded reply but this subject is close to heart for me so I had to respond, And sorry for any misspellings my vision is getting better but its not completely back as you can see lol.
