I can't imagine what might be next in store for us. I really can't imagine what it's going to take to open the eyes and minds of all the men and women in this system. When will enough be enough? They began by taking small benefits, like bereavement and PTO accrual. That wasn't enough. Then, they turned drive cam from coaching to discipline. That wasn't enough. We can't even keep track of the policies they change whenever the mood hits them, like disability qualifications. That wasn't enough. Then they summarily refused to even consider the Team Care health care plan, even though it would save their employees thousands of dollars in co pays, out of pocket costs and premiums. That wasn't enough. Then, they illegally gave Rockaway a 2.00 raise, only to cut their LH runs by 66% and cut their P&D hours and their OT. And, that wasn't enough. They cut negative PTO and then they gave it back. They could cut it again, any time they choose. That wasn't enough. Now, they made commitments to drivers to eliminate sub service, causing drivers to bid on runs they would never get to work. Sub service carriers are running stronger than ever, running YOUR FREIGHT and making YOUR MONEY, while you sit home looking out at the night sky for answers. It seems this isn't enough either. What the hell is it going to take? Do they have to come to your home and steal everything you own, beat your family and kill your dog? Will you stand by watching all of this and still say, "Well, I'm still lucky to have a job." I can buy new stuff, the wife and kids will heal and we can always get another dog! I can't believe that I even have to explain this concept to you over and over and over again. We are hard working, dedicated and loyal men and women who are largely responsible for the profits this company showers on their executive managers and their shareholders. But, we're not worth a decent healthcare plan nor a reasonably comfortable retirement. It's time for us to stand up for our lives, our families and ourselves? Where's our share? If it ain't now...tell me when!
I agree , Iam so close to going back to a union carrier . Basically waiting for the contract to be ratified . Had a phone interview earlier this week with one . Just trying to hold off on in person interview til contract is voted on .

Wow. A little over dramatic much? Every single carrier is doing the same :::shit:::, union or not. Go get your own authority and make your own rules, or put up with what we have. It’s not going to change, so ride it out, or get on another horse.
We can ride it out true, but if someone thinks they can attempt anything that might better the situation, I'm not gonna knock them for trying. It may benefit them, it may not but at least they didn't take it laying down.

Union carriers certainly do use sub service, however, ONLY after all of the bargaining unit has been offered the work. I would like to hear any feedback from union drivers to verify this. It is what I have been told. So, not every single carrier is doing the same. It is dramatic, because it needs to be and every single word in the post represents the absolute truth. It will change if enough of us will it to do so. I will try to do whatever I can for as long as I can to further this movement because it's simply the right thing to do. It is not in my nature to just ride it out or sit there and let someone tell me how lucky I am to have a job. It may be easy for some to put up with what we have but I'll wager those LH guys sitting at home or running P&D may not feel the same.

We have plenty of aggravated drivers sitting and home and on extended voluntary layoff while shiny wheels roll out all hours.

And by the way upnorth.. Who are you to tell someone to like and be happy or go elsewhere??

Yeah, and who gave you authority to delete threads with out consulting with the OP. Every post on here is hearsay and conjecture. Why is not every post vetted and pick thru with a fine comb?

Boys, it looks like we need an Union here on the “trucking boards”. Are we going to be subjected to the tryanny of a velvet glove doused in maple syrup and covered in Canadian bacon, it is time we stood together against those who oppress us.

I would ours would tell us that this doesn’t apply to our barn. (Which it doesn’t ). If it did he probably tell us to slow down.
Electronic surveillance is only going to expand in the coming years. ( more ways to fire you ) that’s why now more then ever you need representation . These type of things can be bargained at the table too make sure it doesn’t become oppressive to your work environment.

To many cases of the union siding with the company on the cameras. More often. Safety is non negotiable.

Once policy is set and agreed to in a contract, the union can't stop it. The point is that when a contract is negotiated, you do have some say in the process. I'm not sure which ones, but there are union barns today that cannot be disciplined with electronic surveillance because it's in their contract. You also have a grievance and arbitration process to protect you from "at will" employment.

Union barns where ? For what company ? Have you been paying attention to the YRC updates ? Just curious.

I’m 100% against speeding. As a matter of fact I don’t think the trucks should be set to 70 . A 65 mph limit should give a good buffer in a 70 mph zone and assure speeding is kept to a minimum. It seems this policy came into effect with the trucks being turn up.
How did we ever get along before this technology ?
If the technology is going to be in place then we need some assurances that it won’t be abused . Nothing better than it spelled out in a contractual agreement as guidelines as to how disapline is applied. As it stands now the company can change a policy at any time they want . If you don’t believe it go to the policy and procedures and read the first page.

I use that ::shit:: in the city. Hammer down, son. I got one of these damn internationals. What a pile of ::shit::. You're nearly over on the drives with an empty long box. Just stupid, these people. Buying such worthless crap. But one upside I have found. If you set the cruise and jack it up, like you were going to " plus " mode, coming down the ramp. You will accelerate much quicker coming up to flow of traffic. Just a tip from your Uncle Highspeeds.

Will they actually vote this time ?

Hey Bloodwidow do you see what he is doing here. Sucker is putting the blame on the company and not the one sitting behind the wheel. Why is that? Who is to blame for this new policy sure in hell is not the company. You get one guess, need a hint........

Let me say I was against having the trucks turned up. I just wanted the torque and HP turn up and that's it. I knew what was going to happen when this was done. Now it's not even been a year and look what has come down the pike or should I say Mass Pike. Here is the real kick in the azz you have to be doing 75+ for 10sec before the cam records in a 65mph zone. Man I don't even trust some of these truck at 65mph.

I'd rather be able to safely pull a hill and have a top speed of 65 than have 70 and be doing 25 on any incline.

When are any Union barns going to get a contract? It's been like four years since Miami and Laredo organized. You Union guys are just spinning your tires until you get something done. If you really want to organize XPO, some terminal, any terminal needs to get a contract that shows what the benefits are to organizing in the first place.

The company has stalled. Just like everyone knew they would. Because once there is a contract anywhere. Everyone will want it. That is when the dominoes will fall. Show these people a real contract and there will be hundreds of elections. Right now it's all fairy tales and dreams.

We need to stand together as one unshakeable force and demonstrate the power of unity in achieving our mutual goals. Sounds like a utopian dream; believe me, I get it. But it's the only way we can achieve our goals.

This is the crux of the situation. In a nut shell. You said it all. A bunch of people chasing a utopian dream.
