XPO | No Work ,no Freight

We're in the process of doing layoffs here at our barn. Rumor is 6 or 7 just got cut today.
Might as well go union. One huge roadblock to me working at a UC was the probability that as low man I would get a lay-off when it’s slow. Reading this thread it sounds worse than a union layoff since they at least let you keep seniority when you return. How y’all gonna hire with all this going on?

I remember around 2009 i was making a pickup and a holland driver was there and said its his first day of work in 2 years i was like man you sure are a devoted employee

Yrc and usf Holland are literally taking all of our freight, Yet the terminal manager acts like it’s not a big deal, the more we loose the less they care
I don't know how long you been if LTL freight. In the LTL world freight is passed around like a lot lizard. Since the union strike in the 90s were lots of companies got hung out to dry most customer don't have just one carrier on the books. Now one carrier might be getting most the freight but never all. Prime example we have 2 customers that we would get about 1-2 bill a day out of, since NEMF closed it now like 1-2 vans per day. The shipper keep us on the book to have pricing in place just in case. When the strike in the 90's happened shippers were begging the non-union carriers like CCX,CSE,CWE to make pickups. It got that bad that most non-union carries were taking care of their shippers freight first and then getting what they could from the other, oh and the rates were at full price with the term of it will get their when it gets their.
I sure if you work here long enough you will see some of those customers come back, or go to another carrier. Remember price is everything. Come in with cheaper rates and you get the freight.

I was with CFCC at that time. We were Union but worked through the strike. Man was that a mess !

OH damm you caught me. That right a whole bunch of us left last night on empties went to another barn and pickup there loads all while they sat guys at home. The we all got to the FAC and the told us to take empties and go to another barn and pickup there freight and bring it back to the FAC. So they could sit even more guys. Then when we got there they hand us all via's so we had to cover the freight for the guys that they let sit. Nothing like a 600 mile night. LOL

How do you like that reply????
I just answer the man question with what was happening in my area.
600 mile night is a glorious thing. Big money for you. It is not your job to refuse a run so that another driver would run. We are all grownups here and if this job is not working out for those sitting home then they should find another job. You have to provide for you and yours and 600 mile nights will do that quite well. Let the others worry about their job. I run every day and don't worry about those that don't. That is not mine or your job to do.

yea fly..tell the truth. Your guys are busy becuse as terminal of the year your dispatch controls the freight flow and now they use your guys again to move other terminals freight and let their drivers sit home. Same thing they do every year when it gets slow. Screw the drivers from pther terminals then use your own to move the freight. We need to get rid of Dispatch at your terminal and give it back to SLC where everyone can be treated fairly. So quit bragging
You are truly misinformed. There’s 2 flybynite’s. Notice the spelling. I work for our company. The reply you made was to the driver that works for another company. Before you cry, make sure you’re crying to the right people.
