Estes | What do you Love about working here? What do you Hate about working here?

That’s why I’d never consider working there. No reason they can’t run their freight like everyone else and get u home daily. This is 2019 after all and not 1975

We dont do bunk houses and 5days gets old. Home every other day laying down is fine with me. They used to do it for extraboard guys. Greenboard they called it.

One thing makes me mad is midwest guy like me and they put me in northeast all week. Fck that no one wants go up there and why cant I stay in my region?

I’m from the Carolinas and stay in the northeast every week. Not my favorite area to run but grossed over $100k last year in the land that we all love to hate on the extraboard.

Good for you brother, but to some money’s not everything. I understand both views. (Some guys want to be home regularly, others don’t mind being gone)

Oh I definitely agree. I know that’s it’s a common belief that it’s hard to make money in the northeast though. Someday I’ll want to be home more, someday.

Waiting three hours for bills and breaking sets and shop time all free
I understand. Waiting around and not getting paid is abominable. I’m lucky on my run that I don’t ever sit and wait but definitely did when I was extraboard. Breaking sets we do get paid. I have never understood why down time at Estes shop is not counted as breakdown pay. I sat in a shop once for 2 hours and all way for free. All in all Estes still pays well though.

My terminal dont believe the worksheet they only pay whats in the computer so if i break two sets to make a set im only getting paid one hook and the weekends im forced to work they usually leave a regular work week run off the check like im not going to notice i was on rt 30 and it shut down and the trooper had me break the set to turn around and estes would not pay me a break because the trooper didnt sign my work sheet years of these dirty tricks changes your mindset

I would be calling up the road and seeing why I am not getting paid for the work that I do. If we are at a terminal and have to break a set to make a set we get paid for a drop and a hook. Make sure that Linehaul knows that you have to break a set to get one of your trailers. Make them pay you for your work!!!

I agree, call Hr and believe me they’ll resolve the issue. Whenever I have an issue I call them and they’re nice and will listen to you. I didn’t know stuff like this was going on at other terminals.

What do I hate about being here for 20 years and being treated as a casual driver... I didn't know I was a part timer.... I'm sorry it's been going on for a couple of months now

Why dont you just enter the drop and hook? lol. Wow. You're something else. In that situation use the manifest number for the rear pump for the drop and hook. If you have to break a set to make a set do the same thing. I've never had anyone say anything to me about it it. I tell dispatch or Ops manager what I had to do and they just say make sure you enter it Into peoplenet.

I swear man you just cry and cry on here about anything. It's not a perfect job but no place is. Go to any other LTL carrier and you'll be dealing with BS there too.

Hey fellow truckers here is my experience so far with Estes.

I been here couple months at Estes out of Houston, all I can say this is by far the worst job I ever had since I became a driver. The TM is a total yahoo who only cares about numbers and I quote he said we are going to train customers to our way. Here at this terminal they dont care about customers either for a pick up or delivery, palletjacks are crap and if you cant find one out there thats decent, drivers will suggest for you to buy your own.

Equipment overall is the crappiest even though they are aware of the rolling pile of equipment we got, management wants you to get out in 30 mins. When it comes to hazmat, apparently we are the number 2 on hazmat holds nationwide. We had a meeting with the safety guy who kept on saying refer to book whenever we pick up hazmat. Apparently now we have measure the hazmat description comes with parenthesis if not it will get hold and you will be slap with 3 days off.

Paper we waste so much paper is ridiculous, now that we have handhelds we should be eliminating all the paperwork required for lunch bring backs and the time you get in and get out of the yard. In regards to Hours older drivers with seniority are barely scraping 40 hours, since i barely got couple months in im averaging 34 hours a week and a day off every week. When I got hired i was told a day off would be mandatory a month but not every week.

Honestly Estes has the potential to be a great company, as long as we have these yahoos in management drivers will leave along with mechanics and customer service ladies will quit as well. Crazy thing we already in may every other major LTL is working every day and getting 50 hours or more a week at least here in my area.

I wonder if Mr. Estes even cares that most staff is leaving to other places instead of staying here.

Well here is my two cents in why I dislike working here.
