Hockey Anyone?

Good grief! My satillite just went out at the end of the third period.
Heavy rains and storms rolled over us. It'll come back. I have a few minutes.

Now that would have been memorable
Here is something memorable for me when I think of my old days as a hockey fan. I lived in NJ and peddled Long Island NY for a small LTL freight company. I would set up my route and lunch hour to be in New Hyde Park in order to watch the Rangers practice.

It was free and I could just walk right in and sit down behind the glass and watch and listen to coach Emile Frances run the practice. I had season tickets for the Rangers 69-70 season. If I didn't have time to get back to Jersey my boss would let me park the truck in Manhattan and go to the game. Of course he didn't pay me union scale while I was there.

To get to my point. I was there the night Boston won the cup in game 6 at Madison Square Garden. Later that night I had to pick up a friend at Newark airport. Back then they only had a small passenger terminal. I was waiting and a little fella walks down the hall smoking a big cigar and asks me where the flight to Boston is. It was Bobby Orr the guy who had just scored the winning goal to beat my Rangers. He had gotten separated from the team and was lost. Stupid me standing there with an NHL superstar not knowing what to say blurts out " thanks a lot Bob now what am I gonna watch on Sunday." He stood there puffing his cigar and said " I don't know watch golf what do I care" and walked off. What an A hole I was.

That is memeoable.
I would have nothin close to it.
Just be able to sit and watch practice let alone watch Orr win the cup after that.
I like that.
Great story. You certainly have not forgotten.

Ya. That was a midnighter. They should be done by 10. I'm in the central time zone. Eastern WA definitely late if your in the east.

Double overtime coming.
I was dead wrong on the end time!

I love this game too.
Love the reaction of the players.
Did you see the goalie (backup) fall and slide on his way out to celebrate?
