I can tell you stories that would prove you wrong, but this not the time nor the place.

Back in the early 80's, I was in a truck stop, might have been in Nebraska having coffee with an ol' timer, he asked me if I knew what ruined the trucking industry, I said, deregulation, 55 mph speed limit, J B Hunt? "Nope," he said "panty hose", "nothin' to see anymore". All perspective I guess.....
Who remembers the "Truckin" Bozo"? WLW "The 50,000 watt flamethrower of the mid-west". Got me through many a night....
You mean the Bad old days.
I drove the B-Model Mack with a twin stick tranny.
Whoever designed those duplex & triplex tranny's were not thinking about safety.
Also back in the day tractors had no creature features, such as power steering,or air-conditioning.
If we wanted a radio we had to bungy strap a radio box in the cab
The young drivers coming into the trade now days would agree that trucking back in the day, were the Bad old days.
1966, H-model Macks with twin stick duplex and triplex and cable operated parking brake, no maxi-brakes.

Loved the B61, B67, not so much, concave cab, belly rubbed the steering wheel. You mean the Bad old days.

WHAT you didn't like the "Two story" Ford's not much worse than the GMC "Cracker Box's"Loved the B61, B67, not so much, concave cab, belly rubbed the steering wheel.
We never had H or F models, ran KWs and 7400 White.
The nightmare we had was the W model Ford.

Hopefully only a single driver, for a team you could go right to the graveyard in that thing when debris came up and skewered you. Seems like you found the origin of the "coffin box sleeper". Ol' fat man like me would have a hell of a time getting in and out. I like the portholes.
Associated Transport, sleeper under trailer, used mostly for single operation.
When driver's time was up, crawled under and took his break.
In the very early years at Coop, we had those mounted on top of the trailer..you know for safety from road debris......well BRG still suffers from PTSD from waking up on the side of the road....
