Has anyone run the numbers on the CSPF life span if YRC shuts down next week?
Just a hypothetical question.
Sorry to all the non selfish retirees, this whole deal or lack there of, pisses me off.

The more collecting, the quicker the demise of the pension. Every time a company closes, huge numbers retire, rather than start over.

Best thing to do if you can. Gives you some leway. Staying as I did. Well. I had to.
Too many things going on in our lives. Our working futures were not at the top of the list.

I couldn't do another 8 years. I don't regret leaving when I did.
More power to anyone who can stay and continue to do it.
I just had to do it for myself. I'm not collecting as yet. I'll wait.

32 years for me. 30 yrs at Holland and 2 at another. Still working at Holland because I'm only 54 yrs old. There's no hope for me, It's gonna be dead before I even get started and there's several other guys I work with in the same boat. All I can hope for is that the contract is ratified so I can work until the day I drop. My father was a 35 yr teamster and retired when he was the age I'm at now, he passed in December but had a great 22 yr retirement, traveling and spending time with my mother which I'm very grateful for, but there wasn't one day that went by that he didn't worry about losing his pension when everything went sour. He doesn't have the worries we all have now and it may sound funny but I'm thankful for that. I'm not a very religious man but I pray to God everyday for all of you and everyone else involved that a solution will come to make us all whole again and take all our worries away. We're all in terrible situation that none us had any control of. Take care my brothers and try and stay upbeat and have hope.

Yours is a perfect storm.
I am fortunate that this has not been the only job I've had.
I didn't get hired in until I was 30 years old..
So I had about two jobs of any significance before the LTL world.
Had I been 22 years old and still be there at my age my mind would be scrambled.
I know men that have 35 years and they are too young to retire. This is the only job they had. This is all they know. And some are dock only. I feel bad for them. But there is nothing I can do. That's where I feel fortunate. Not to be 58 with 35 years and no future there. And to have to stay there. Issues keep them there. They need the insurance not only for themselves but for their wives!

maybe someone with investment skills should be running the show like the western conference instead of good old boys

Since the CSPF was supposedly set forth to protect the monies of all of the Central States retirees and has dismally failed to do that; why were we the retirees not able to dump every one of those execs/trustees or whatever we want to call them and get people in who would watch out for our best interests?

It was pretty much the same week that we got notice of being cut back in 2015 that it came out that Nyhan got a $30.000+ raise on top of his over $700,000. salary. Also the rest got comparable raises. That was an insult on top of the outrage we felt. Not real clear on Nyhan's salary but I believe it put him very close to $800,000. WHY wasn't there any cuts pushed for them as well as us?

Every time I see that smirking pic of Nyhan on my screen I would love to put my foot through it but then I would have to buy another one so I refrain.
