Look on if you have to ask
You're over 50 and you are willing to put you livelihood in the hands(minds)<opinion> of what could be Russian hackers
Look on brother in my opinion
You just gone end up being another guy getting on our nerves 5 years from now with that mentality

AND 50 more are all hiring now
Paying more and are just all around greener pastures
But I'd suggest you beat the big crowd of interviewees especially in ChicagoLand where there's a hundred plus interviews outstanding now

Let's see
Over 50
Over 20 years in trucking (union environment)
Stumbled upon truckingboards(YRC Forum)
Missed Years of Debate and Dialogue especially over the last Year
Went through the hiring process(questioning) your decision to all of a sudden when the Sheep show up you'll find out that EVERYWHERE ELSE pays more and is so much of a better place to be
Then be angry because you also want MORE when you can get more now
Dude Who Are You
Because the damsel in distress act ain't flying after what we just went through

We're sorry you all lost your jobs...
YRC is PERFECT for someone over 45. Non-union outfits will talk down to you. Here, they may not like you as a union employee but they will call you Mister. :-)
I'm 52. My monthly Rx runs retail, $280/month, I only pay $8/month. That's just for ME. My wife? DOUBLE that !!! ..lol
You can't beat their insurance. As you know, when you get older, you take more meds and go see your doctor more.
This place is not perfect. But you would be surprised at how many come back. .lol
Good luck buddy.

well cspf will be insolvent no matter what happens unless a government bailout comes to the rescue in the next 5 to 7 years. then your pension goes to the pbgc where they are overwhelmed and underfunded. you would be wise to go to a company that offers a 401k match and offers a higher wage. in 5 years here you will be at 26.13 an hour. im sure ups and others pay better. there is no future here, none and thats the truth. just look no further than the 3 million mile day cabs.

You're so negative. I feel sorry for you. As you know, we have good insurance. Maybe you should talk to someone about all your work related issues? Furthermore..., it can wreck havoc on your personal life as well.
Don't be embarrassed about asking for help...

negative ? am I not correct that cspf is insolvent ? needs a government bailout right ? and we are still the lowest paid ltl on the street even in 5 years with 4.00 more per hour ? i dont need to ask for help. asking for help is a sign of weakness. why would someone want to work 15 years and get less than 1k a month in retirement.

Ok tough guy, you win... ..lol

For the last time..thank you ALL for the replies whether they be negative vitriol or positive. $80 a week to your pension is a path to never retiring. I'm beyond words trying to understand the happiness of getting a week of vacation and $4 over 5 years when your working with a pension that's not going to be there when you retire. After all didn't you come here for the pension and benefits? At what point did you stop caring about your golden years ? Even very small businesses offer a 401k with a match here you get nothing. When you were loading freight off a cart and floor loaded the freight you were glad you got that $17k plus health and pay. Now you just go thru the motions and accepting decrepit equipment as the best your going to get. Look at our competitors and see how far ahead they are versus us. We can never be the kings of the road again. Lack of union leadership and a company that's broke. There is simply no future here. You know you always wanted that new car boat RV or beach house but with a pension that's empty you'll never get to those dreams.

Did it ever dawn on you that there is the possibility that some people didn't count on the pension and planned on their retirement income coming from other sources - investments (stock, businesses, etc.), savings, or even a wealthy widow?

You know.
I found a job at roadway over 30 years ago. I was broke.
I stayed all that time and it paid all my bills. No worries.
I retired in January. Small pension. Don't want to be rich.
Pay the light bill and electricity. It's all I need. If what I have now as a pension goes away the day will turn into night and the night will turn into day. I won't care and I'm prepared for it. So when I left I left the same way I came. Broke. But. No bills to pay. Except for utilities. I can handle that.
I think alot of people that work in the LTL sector need to know it's a big world out there. It does not revolve around one of us driving a truck or loading a trailer.
If it pays the bills and you can save for yourself none of the pension stuff means anything. We all know it's not there. So. We either stay or move on with our lives.
I moved on. And am so happy in doing so. Sounds to me after reading alot in here some just can't find a spot and be happy. And isn't that where everyone wants to be? Tons of other jobs out there. But most won't move on. SOS. New day. If we don't like a job why stay?
If the guy is happy at yrc. So be it. You know. Some guys are happy at yrc.
He may be one. No need to ruin his day cause the union is this or that or the pay sucks. He's got a job. Whoo Hoo. He's happy.
Going over to the sports forums. More fun over there. C'mon over.

The writing is on the wall. No driving job is safe. The transition is inevitable. No idea how long it will take, but in our grandchildren’s lifetime, the memory will fade, if not be in museums only.
